Why are they pushing for a "Pathway" to citizenship?

Isnt there one in place already? My grandparents used it almost 40 years ago to come to the US...

What happened to the one my grandparents used?

It should be a "pathway" back to where they came from.

There is a pathway to citizenship, but illegal immigrants are not eligible under current laws due to illegally immigrating. (Which makes sense, really.) Short of deporting everyone (which is logistically impossible and would surely create a slew of social problems), the only way to avoid creating a permanent underclass is to give current illegal immigrants a way they can integrate into society.

You're absolutely right. My mother in-law migrated here LEGALLY from Japan over 45 years ago.

There is no VALID reason to be "legalizing" those here illegally now.
