Both! Jesus IS God -God the Son - and He was sent by God the Father:

The Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. - 1 John 4:14

    John 1

Jesus is divine, though distinct from the Father. He is God; he was sent by God the Father.

God does not have a literal wife with whom he fathered children. But he is the Creator of all life. (Revelation 4:11) Therefore, the first human that God created, Adam, is called a “son of God.” (Luke 3:38) Similarly, the Bible teaches that Jesus was created by God. So Jesus is also called a “Son of God.”—John 1:49.

God created Jesus before he created Adam. Regarding Jesus, the apostle Paul wrote: “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.” (Colossians 1:15) Jesus’ life began long before he was born in a stable in Bethlehem. In fact, the Bible says that his “origin is from early times, from the days of time indefinite.” (Micah 5:2) As God’s firstborn Son, Jesus was a spirit creature in heaven before he was born as a human on earth. Jesus himself said: “I have come down from heaven.”—John 6:38; 8:23.

I believe he is God's son, plain and simple. He said over and over in the gospels that he was God's son. He never claimed to be God. Some use John 1:1 to try to say that he is. But first century Greek language lacked a word for "a" so if you were to translate it straight through without modifications for English, it would read "the word was god", but in English it would read "the word was a god". However, in the Greek language they do have a word for "the" which they are very careful to place in front of any word that is meant to be definite. In instances where they are talking about Almighty God, you will find the Greek word for "the" in front of it. So why would Jesus be called "a god"? There are other various places in the Bible that refer to humans as gods. Even Satan is referred to as "the god of this world". So in these cases the word "god" could refer to someone who simply is worshiped or revered by others and/or is powerful. It doesn't mean that they are the Almighty God. You really have to read the context of certain scriptures and do some research to really understand which they mean. On another note, God doesn't intend to confused us and hide what he is from us. With some research on the original language, it becomes clear what the meaning is.

There are also other phrases in the Bible that people use to support the trinity. Such as when Jesus says "if you've seen me you've seen my father also". Could this not mean that they share enough personality traits that a person could look at Jesus and know what sort of person God is? Also when Jesus says that "The father and I are one." This could also mean that their goals and opinions are the same as one another? I could say the same thing about me and my husband. But that doesn't make us the same person. It's also rather hard to refute John 1:18, which says that no man has seen God at any time. If Jesus were God, the Bible would be contradicting itself considering that thousands of people had seen Jesus.

I agree wholeheartedly with Judah, "King James Bible (Cambridge Ed.)

Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 1 John 3:16

Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. John 8:58

The Bible tells us that Jesus is Alpha and Omega, the First and the Last, the Living One who died and came to life again. Jesus as the beginning and end of all things is a reference to no one but the true God. This statement of eternality could apply only to God. It is seen especially in Revelation 22:12-13, where Jesus proclaims he is coming soon, that He is “the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the End.”

Just think the Lord of glory took upon Himself a robe of flesh, became a man for the express purpose of offering Himself as a sacrifice for our sins!!!

He was a part of God(Trinity)

When you speak, you send out an idea on yourself

When God spoke, he sent out his son Jesus

So Through Jesus we can understand God the father

(The symbolism goes bad if you think about how deaf people communicate)

How do the Scriptures read? [those that are accurate and true].

    John 3:16

    King James Version (KJV)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

    John 5:30

    King James Version (KJV)

30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.

    John 6:38

    King James Version (KJV)

38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

    John 8:42

    King James Version (KJV)

42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.

    John 12:49

    King James Version (KJV)

49 For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.

    John 14:28

    King James Version (KJV)

28 Ye have heard how I said unto you, I go away, and come again unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice, because I said, I go unto the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

    John 20:17

    King James Version (KJV)

17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.

    John 1:2-3

    King James Version (KJV)

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

    John 1:1c

1808 "and the word was a god' The New Testament, in An Improved Version,

Upon the Basis of Archbishop Newcome's

New Translation: With a Corrected Text, London.

1864 "and a god was the Word" The Emphatic Diaglott by Benjamin Wilson.

1935 "and the Word was divine" The Bible- An American Translation, by J.M.P.

Smith and E. J. Goodspeed, Chicago.

1950 "and the Word was a god" New World Translation of the Christian Greek

    Scriptures, Brooklyn.

    1975 "and a god (or, of a

divine kind) was the Word"* Das Evangelium nach Johannes, by Siegfried

    Schulz, Gottingen, Germany.

1978 "and a godlike sort was the Logos"* Das Evangelium nach Johannes

    Schneider, Berlin.

1979 "and a god was the Logos"* Das Evangelium nach Johannes, by Jurgen

    Becker, Wurzburg, Germany.

    * Translated from German.

These translations use such words as "a god," "divine" or "godlike" because

the Greek word (theos) is a singular predicate noun occurring before the verb

and is not preceded by the definite article. This is an anarthrous theos.

On the other hand, theos, preceded by the definite article ho is referred to as

    an articular theos.

Careful translators recognize that the articular construction of the noun points

to an identity, a personality, whereas a singular anarthrous predicate noun

preceding the verb, points to a quality about someone.

    Yes... definitely.

I know you think that isn't a proper answer.... but it is... I believe both are true. I believe that because God is divine, not human, and He lives by His own rules. he has 3 different aspects like 3 sides or 3 characters or 3 faces. Like water and steam and ice. Jesus was there in the beginning, He was called the Word, and He became flesh in the form of Jesus. But God created the universe and Jesus called Him Father when He was here with us. He said he who has seen me has seen my Father... not too difficult to understand, lots of people are just like their Dad.

    Both

God is ONE being consisting of three persons (Father Son Holy Spirit). The Father (God) sent the Son (God) to die for us.
