Why do Jehovah's Witnesses teach we will live on a paradise earth?
The scriptures state:
"But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up." (2 Peter 3:10)
The earth all the way down to the very elements it is made of is going to MELT. This earth is slated for destruction because it has been corrupted by sin and death and YOU guys want to live on it? Why?
The scriptures state we will have a NEW heavens and a NEW earth. Why do you want to recreate the old one when better things are to come?

Hello,
The Bible teaches that the literal earth will never be destroyed. Numerous scriptures point to this and the knowledge we have of Jehovah God is that He doesn't ever need to completely destroy everything and then start again. That would imply that he has been completely foiled and needs to go back to the drawing board.(see Isaiah 55:11)
(Genesis 8:22) 22 For all the days the earth continues, seed sowing and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night, will never cease.”
(Ecclesiastes 1:4) 4 A generation is going, and a generation is coming; but the earth is standing even to time indefinite.
(Isaiah 45:18) 18 For this is what Jehovah has said, the Creator of the heavens, He the [true] God, the Former of the earth and the Maker of it, He the One who firmly established it, who did not create it simply for nothing, who formed it even to be inhabited: “I am Jehovah, and there is no one else.
Yes, there is going to be a massive cleansing work carried out by God but there will be survivors and this is in harmony with how He has worked in the past - such as in Noah's day and likewise at Armageddon.
(Proverbs 2:20-22) . . .. 21 For the upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be LEFT OVER in it. 22 As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it. (Caps mine)
(1 John 2:17) 17 Furthermore, the world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God REMAINS forever. (Caps mine)
When Peter used the words that you quote, he was using them symbolically as those terms often are used in the scriptures. See Genesis 11:1 for the usage of the word Earth and Ephesians 6:12 for Heavens (and these are not the only scriptures that use those words in a symbolic context.). They refer to a New Earthly society and a New Heavenly Kingdom arrangement.
"Why do you want to recreate the old one when better things are to come?": It's not about recreating this earth. It's about Jehovah FULFILLING His word regarding his original purpose for this earth.
Besides, I have a question for you. Do you believe that the 'Heavens' to be destroyed and made new are the literal starry heavens or the spiritual ones where God resides?

We [JW's] clearly teach what the Bible says....and it is written at Psalms 37:10-11 that the "meek ones will inherit the earth." These 'meek ones'' are those who are humble and teachable and willing to listen to God's voice and be obedient....these ones will enjoy the reward of living forever on a paradise earth. It's not a joke, as some here have posted, this is the truth from Jehovah's mouth, and nothing He says comes back without fulfillment. Isaiah 55:10-11. Edit: @Sthe.....did the questioner "give" JW's the credit? I think not! If you read with understanding, you will see that he asked if this is what "we teach" Wow! some people really have an ungrounded hatred for God's people and the truth that we TEACH!

Hi, great question! Your accuracy of the Bible is correct! Its also exactly what those who serve Jehovah believe as well: not trying to Recreate this present world by changing it physically, but following Jesus' command at Matthew 28:19, 20 so that ALL PEOPLE can have the opportunity of being fellow Citizens of God's new society: only people who serve God, no divisions amongst anyone. Careful study of the verses in 2 Peter chapter 3 teaches us that it is symbolic. Think, before Peter mentions the earth being destroyed, he speaks about the flood of Noah's day. What was destroyed, the earth or the people? No doubt the people were! Many times when the Bible says "earth", it is referring to what makes up the world; the people rather than the literal earth (Genesis 11:1) Think of this: when God Created the 1st humans, Adam and Eve, where did they live? - On earth, in a Beautiful Paradise. And had they not sinned, where would they still be? -yes, on the earth. Scriptures such as the Lord's prayer, starting at Matthew 6:9 clearly shows that God's will will be done, not only in heaven, but also ON EARTH. Psalms 37:29 also teaches that soon, the meek ones will posess the EARTH. It is comforting to know that the physical earth will not literally be destroyed. Rather, Jehovah God "the Former of the earth...did not create it simply for nothing, but he formed it even to be inhabited..." -Isaiah 45:18; Psalms 104:5. Enjoy!

Hi,
The number of human beliefs and philisophies are virtually endless. Therefore, where can we find reliable information? 2Tim 3:16 relates that all scripture is inspired of God and benificial for teaching and setting matters straight.
The following are just a couple of bible passages regarding the future of the Earth and mankinds’ existence upon it:
Most of Psalms chapter 37
Psalms 37:29 - The righteous will possess the earth, and they will live forever on it.
Rev. 21:3, 4 - With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his people. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
The religions of Chrisendom do not teach such things: 2Tim 4:3,4 - For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the wholesome teaching, but according to their own desires, they will surround themselves with teachers to have their ears tickled. They will turn away from listening to the truth and give attention to false stories.
1Tim 1:1-5 - However, the inspired word clearly says that in later times some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired statements and teachings of demons, by means of the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, whose conscience is seared as with a branding iron. They forbid marriage and command people to abstain from foods that God created to be partaken of with thanksgiving by those who have faith+ and accurately know the truth. For every creation of God is fine, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, for it is sanctified through God’s word and prayer over it. (also see 2Thes 2:1-15 regarding the great apostacy starting in the 1st century)
Best Regards,
-Tim

The New Testament is all about a heavenly hope ,Jehovah's Witnesses agree on that but believe that the NT was written only for 144000 persons ,the only ones they believe will go to heaven.
Jesus himself never taught about 'paradise earth ' ,playing with lions and bears etc.
The majority of the verses Witnesses use to try to prove an earthly paradise are in the Old Testament ,even then, they agree that those prophecies were to do with the restoration of the Jews but claim that they would have a future fulfilment .
Jehovah's Witnesses initialy believed that all Christiand had a heavenly hope until the 1930s when their leader came up with a two class system ,with two different hopes ,while the Bible clearly says that Christians have one hope.

Jehovah witnesses saying that the earth will not change is rather a lie, as in the beginning before the flood according to Peter, the earth was not like it is today but stood in and out of the water, that is why it only took 40 days and 40 night for the earth to be flooded, Then after the flood, the earth changed as it is today, as the continents drifted apart, if you look they sort of fit together, Peter also tells us that this present earth will be destroyed by fire, and the Lord will create a new heaven and a new earth, where sin no long dwells and the Lord will be our Light.

I don't understand why any of the churches teach! Matthew (23:8) Jesus said, " do not call yourself teacher." There is even a warning in Revelation (22) Not to add or take anything from this book. How evil and Godless are these people. If they really loved him they would obey his commandments---John (14:15) Satan will talk you into disobeying Gods commands just like he talked Adam and Eve into eating from the tree.Their is no excuse for what they do! HYPOCRITES!
