I Dreamed About the Bridge Tender C/C?

Last night I dreamed of the bridge tender,

the woman with the silver hair.

She was pacing about her tiny space

Like a she lion in its lair.

Light came from her laptop

and I saw upon the screen

that old familiar border

that denoted Yahoo green.

Nervously she grabbed a cig

and went outside to smoke,

the bayou air was thick and dense

so humid it made you choke.

She was blowing perfect smoke rings

that made cones into the fog,

and then she heard a boat bray

its arrival in the smog.

Dutifully,she tossed the butt

and scurried back inside

to push alarms and raise the bridge

ensuring a captain's ride.

Her work now done, she sat on her chair

in her home away from home,

thinking about the eerie air,

and started to write a poem....

Some dreams are a cacophony of nonsense, while some

have a diamond clarity of realism.

I feel your captivating poem is the latter,

    about a rarity...a bridge tender.

    .

I admire the way you construct your tale,

    with good imagery and momentum.

Having a job that requires timing,

I bet her meter was spot on as "the tender" wrote

her poem, dream or no dream.

Odds are she didn't sit and watch

the world go by. She welcomed its arrival

    and grew in wisdom.

I love the way you overlay your atmospheric images,

melding with the action, including the flowing water

    of the ship channel.

The bridge itself introduces an element

of anticipation as to what mechanism operates it.

A magnetic poem, leaving the reader to conjure

    images on their own..

Your spin a charming story, Gemini... and your talent

    radiates effectively in doing so.

    * * * * * to you.

studies. Your objectives are continually some combination of events that should ensue in the genuine international, or issues you think of roughly. you does no longer possibly dream you're a fish sometime, you does no longer have the 1st clue the place to initiate. in case you think of roughly being a fish usually, you need to finally finally end up dreaming approximately it.

I had a distant uncle who worked as a drawbridge operator in Florida back in the 70s. I only met him once---and he was wearing a "Jughead" hat.

    Cool job. Nice poem.

    Eerie beginning...oooo

    haunted painting.

    taken to a different place/emotion.

    fierce, must be careful...

    foggy.

    Great work Gem.

I've been reading "poems" on here for about 45 minutes and just now came across a genuine one. Very well done. I feel inspired to write my own, thanks.

    What a story!...it's fascinating, it's vivid, it's just a great poem,

and I too am jealous, not least because I cannot blow smoke-rings...

    Oh, very good! Highly cinematic.

I've no doubt that (later) you intend to tweak it even closer to perfection; I'm envious, as my best isn't this good. So, I'll go to school on this one. Keep me advised.

It irks me to see good work thrown at those who incessantly attack me, but I apologize for putting you in the middle of it.

    Good poem.

Then, above all else, you had a nightmare on 'Shrimper's Row'...bad place in Dulac, where dopers hang, and police drive by like it's a Sunday afternoon drive in the country. GNATS!

    Gems

You have penned a tale of the woman from the Bayou Bayou,

and if I'm not mistaken, she's also one of my favorite women

her on the screens of YAP. Also a fellow stock trader.

You did well with the, and the rhymes fit through the smoke rings.

    Congrats
