Is it becoming trendy to be a good dad?

On this, Father's Day, I would like to find out what people think about this: I grew up with the generation of latch-key kids and it was more normal for parents to be divorced and remarried than to have both original parents. I've noticed though that this next generation of parents seem to be placing some importance on fathers. Whether it's staying with the mom or being a single dad, men in their early and late 20s seem to be stepping up to the plate more than their fathers did.

Has anyone else noticed this trend? Cheers to all of you great dads out there today - thank you for being the men your children deserve.

I think it was always trendy to be a good dad. It is partly that the definition of what it means to be a good dad has changed. When I was a child being a good dad meant being a good provider, and where I lived that meant that many of the dads were away from home for long periods of time, often for months at a time, and so the moms raised the children. I think it is great that today dads do seem to be playing a more significant and more positive role in raising their children.
