My neighbor won't let her 4 year old son?

play with my 5 year old son who has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. (ASD) I think it is just because my son has ASD. My son keeps asking to play with my neighbor's son Hunter who is 4. I feel bad that his mom won't let him come out and play with my son for whatever reason :( What do I tell my son as to why he can't play with Hunter? I don't want to hurt his feelings but at the same time I have a feeling his mom is never going to let Hunter play with my son and I don't want to keep getting my son's hopes up that they "might" possibly play together sometime in the future.

Just say that his mommy doesn't want him outside and that he must be busy with something else. This may have nothing to do with your son's autism so don't jump to conclusions. Have other friends over for play dates.

Maybe try finding your son someone else to play with so he can forget about the ladies son

Well if that is the case then your neighbour is extremely rude and heartless. You should speak to her, say my son really wants to play and be friends with your son, is there a problem?

Have you tried talking to Hunter's parents? That would be the most immediate solution that I can think of.
