Can i buy a car cash in hand at a Dealer?

First off No i am not a drug dealer or anything like that i am 20 years old saving my paychecks to purchase my first new or new/used car cash out for example i seen a 2010 Nissan Sentra for 11,000 and want to know if its actually possible to buy cash because my credit is shot so financing is not an option. And will the dealer think im crazy if i came in with that amount in cash i have seen people do it and videos on youtube of people filming there first car purchase cash and it looks possible has anyone else ever done it and i know if i am paying cash i got more wiggle room in final price. Because i sure as hell am not paying sticker :)

Auto finance is what I do for a living and of course you can.

I cant count how many cash deals I have done over the last 12+ years.

What you might consider is going to your own local bank or credit union after you find the vehicle you want to buy and agree on a price and see if you can put 50% down and finance the rest. This will reestablish your credit.

    Good luck.

Check out the value of the car using "parkers guide" or similar sort of thing. As the dealer needs to make money they will undoubtabley have added some more to the price so you need to bring it down big time. I wouldn't talk about price until after showing you are REALLY interested in it. Then the salesman knows he has a potential sale! You can then come out with "I really like the car, but I don't like the price!" Salesman will probably ask how much were you lookin at spending so hit him low......embarrasingly low!!! Go for about £4000 and laugh and smile when you say it - keep it freindly!! He will probably laugh and say no chance! which is when you ask him ok well whats the best price you could do it for? He will mess u about taking off £100 or something crap like that - keep at it and you should be able to get a good £600 or £700 and I would push for the road tax to be included - a full service and valet and a years warranty! Why not - whats the worse that can happen?!

Of course it's possible to use cash, although I really wouldn't want to carry that much cash on my person, you could just as easily use a check.

But the dealer will get the same amount regardless of how you pay, if fact sometime using their preferred finance partner will get them a little more, so having cash won't make any significant difference.

I just purchased my 2009 Nissan Rogue with cash because I didn't want to finance. I just wrote them a check because I didn't have it all in cash, but you can do it however you would like. Most people aren't able to purchase a car cash, but if you can that's great because you don't have to pay the extra in interest or have a payment every month. Generally the price at a dealer isn't set all that negotiable, but you can always ask if they're willing to come down.

Yes, you can certainly pay cash. People do it all the time, and for a lot more than $11,000. In fact, wealthy people (who don't need loans) nearly always pay cash for their luxury cars.

Paying cash won't get your a better price for a car. Dealers actually make more profit if you finance a loan through them and their finance company. Actually, dealers ALWAYS get cash -- either directly from the customer, or from the bank or finance company that provides the customer's loan.
