Feminism and abortion. your thoughts. debate style, agree/elaborate or contend the thoughts?

this is bullcrap.......the very notion that women have some right to contend that because we are female....and must bear the physical side of procreation we get the only say about abortion.......... goes completely against the rest of the feminist mantra.......the mantra that we are the same..... that our gender should not dictate our rights.......and yet.....you fight for gender dictating your right to abortion.......if you really truly wanted gender not to dictate your rights then you would be fighting for an abortion bill that gave men just as much say over the life of the child they helped to create..........i do not understand how out of one side of your mouth you can say i am equal and should be treated as such......and out of the other you can say well he is only the father and male....so his gender dictates that he has no say......because my gender does all the physical work.......so feminists...put your money where your mouth is.......if you want equality.....and you want abortion......then fight for an equal system.......a system where one gender is not forced out of the decision making process simply because of birth right.............if you want the pleasures(the right to abortion) of your gender to be solely yours..... then you need to embrace your gender role completely and go back to home making......life is not a have your cake and eat it too kind of place.......................but if you want equality then fight for equality..........become equal.......and give fathers a choice...........

Update:

Sorry eliot k...........the prerequisite here is that to people intentional get pregnant........and then the woman decides to abort the mans child.....is it truly fair that because he is not the female he has no say??????????

Update 2:

i am not saying that he owns her body.......but the child is half his.........what i am trying to say is that each woman......... if they personally want real equality will not force the man out of the process............i am not saying that men should own women but that women should make men equals when it come to the child.......in fact this attitude made the mans body controlled thru deception(that they were in it together).......his body was used like a sperm bank and once his duty was over he was cast away with no say or control......like a pray mantis......in fact every time two people have sex....they both are aware of the possibility of a child.........and they both should know that two people are involved and effected...........and for women that should mean that they have a responsibility not to treat the man as some form of sperm bank......

Update 3:

i agree that we each control our own bodies.....but the mans control of his body can be ripped away any time (after the fact) the woman feels like it...is this truly fair........

Abortion is a complex issue, that involves much more than simply getting rid of an unwanted foetus. A woman is forced to carry the foetus for 9 months (assuming nothing goes wrong during the natural gestational period), while the man essentially plays no role (again, assuming the man is in a committed relationship with the now pregnant woman). IF, however the foetus is the product of a sexual assault, or a one-night-stand, should the rapist or random man have rights to his progeny? I don't think so, in the case of rape and incest, but I have no opinion regarding one-night-stands - because I wouldn't want to judge people who engage in that kind of activity.

Now, if a woman (regardless of her relationship status, or under what circumstance the foetus was conceived) finds out that her life is in danger as a result of the pregnancy (due to health complications, not from an abusive lover) then she should absolutely be allowed to get the abortion.

Women don't simply seek abortions because we "feel like it". It is a terribly invasive procedure, that is sought in the direst of circumstances, and assuming otherwise is really harmful to all women.

I've never really understood feminism because I do my own thing, and I don't really care what everybody else does, I'm my own person with my own thoughts, I don't actually think abortion is so wrong but I also thing, yeah the father would be upset if the mother decided to abort the child, but you don't have to carry the baby, you don't have to bear the physical pain of the whole situation when you never wanted it in the first place, a father does have a say, but then so does the mother, if the dad wants to keep the baby and the mother doesn't, there is no majority, who is going to settle the score ? The mother because she has the slight advantage of actually being the one pregnant.

Every father SHOULD have a choice. I believe the woman made the choice about her body when she allowed a man to have sex with her... the rest just follows.

On the flip side, if the woman chooses to keep her child and the man doesn't want it.. he is still responsible for child support and more.

I ask, why should the man have to be responsible, but the woman can just erase her "mistake"?... as many see it.

Each person controls his/her own body.

If a woman wants a child, she can find a man to get her pregnant. If she does not want to be pregnant she can abstain, use birth control, or have an abortion.

If a man does not want a child he can abstain or use birth control. If he wants to have a child, he can find a woman who wants to bear his child.

Nothing could be simpler: We each get to control our own bodies.

You can make up the absurd notion that men have certain rights over a woman's body, but that is just nasty, mean, and inhuman.
