Did Elijah ascend to the heaven?

This question seems contentious. Are there any implications for believing that he did?

Being taken up into a chariot is a nice way to say he died. Besides no one could enter Heaven before Jesus entered into His Glory where Elijah entered was Abraham's Bosom or otherwise Paradise as the early Christians had called it Limbo of the Fathers.

No, he was transported to another place on earth... Away from Elisha who had become to clingy.
