Is it possible to set up a PC for the first time using an HDMI to tv set up?

I've got a vizio tv, less than a year old with two HDMI outputs in the back.

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/iBUYPOWER+-+Desktop+-+...

That is the rig I bought.

I insert the HDMI cable correctly and power up both devices, but I get nothing for audio or visual. I tried reseating the graphics card, but nothing new happened. The wiring looks right, but I've never been great with PC hardware, hence why I bought a machine rather than built one.

Please, do not say something obvious like switch the input. I'm not a moron, I've just never done this before.

Update:

Thanks buddy, but I figured it out. My psu came with a little switch for different voltage. Seems the lower one wasn't enough juice for the graphics card.

    Hi There,

That looks like a nice computer.

The HDMI output should work with your TV as long as you have selected the correct input for the TV. The TV should say "computer" for input on the menu ( I believe ).

If it were me I would check the TV manual to see if it should work.

Possibly the HDMI cable is at fault...you might try swapping the cable with one that is known to be good.

If nothing seems to work I would call iBUYPOWER tech support for more information since it is possible the graphics card is faulty.

    Hope this helps,

The lag pronounced via LG isn't the enter lag. i've got by no potential considered a television maker or liquid crystal exhibit video exhibit maker record the enter lag. this is the reaction time of the liquid crystals themselves. in maximum cases, any liquid crystal exhibit panel with physique interpolation (what 120hz particularly is) creates extra lag. physique interpolation demands huge quantities of calculations and it slows issues down. once you're observing a blu ray as an occasion or HD cable, if the calculations reason an quite undesirable lag, it particularly is not an argument considering the fact which you're actually not gaming or surfing the internet, the lag must be 2 seconds, it particularly is not proper. yet then human beings attempt to interest and locate out the not trouble-free way that lag would be terrible. It varies from set to set so there is not any thank you to offer you any figures. the only thank you to get rid of this extra lag is to coach the 120hz or 240hz off, yet not all TVs and video exhibit instruments allow you to coach this off. you will would desire to seek the boards and spot what game enthusiasts with a similar or comparable video exhibit ought to declare approximately it.
