Big Brother is Watching You?

Okay, I might be wrong in this, but I recently saw an advertisement for the show Big Brother, and the woman stated the infamous quote "Big Brother is watching you!" And I thought it a bit strange that they could take that from George Orwell's novel and use it like that?

But what bothers me even more is that in my grade 10 Social Studies class, we were doing current events, and I brought up the deal about the NSA and Edward Snowden, and I made a joke ending it with the the Big Brother quote ... The problem is that nobody understood what I really meant as a reference to 1984, but instead thought I was talking about some silly reality show.

Are they doing this on purpose? Are they trying to hide the real meaning of the quote to trick the masses into thinking its just a reality show gag?

Sorry if I sound absurd ... It's just something I've been thinking about for a while.

Any well thought out opinions will be greatly appreciated!

The article below actually offers a really good pretty unbiased viewpoint outlining the good and bad effects of Edward Snowden. I think you'll find it pretty enjoyable.

We are so far beyond anything Orwell ever wrote.

Unfortunately the BS educational system doesn’t teach things like the Constitution, instead it is just slave training.

Please sir, may I use the bathroom???
