Dear Friend,
There is no such thing as "Christian" rock, rap, etc. God is a Holy, Just and Righteous God Who only receives songs that glorify...HIM. We are to discern what is and what is not of God. Go back to the 'origin' of songs. Rock...composed by people on drugs, etc. Not Christ-like. No real intimate relationship with God or their lifestyle would demonstrate it.
There are a lot of people who write songs, sing songs and the like, about the Lord, but that doesn't mean they are Christ-like in their lifestyle. Be careful, as Satan "COPIES" the things of God and it can appear to be a duck, and even quack like a duck, but it can be a DECOY. We are to know what is acceptable to God, and not what we like based on our feelings or the beat of music. It isn't supposed to be what pleases us, but what pleases almighty God. Think about that. We must have a close intimate relationship to "know" God's character and obey His Word. We should also know the character of our adversary the devil too, so we can "know" his tricky tactics.
Blessings,

Christian music is overly simplistic. I could never stand it. Recently I read an article by researchers positing the idea that overly simplistic music and vocals attracts people of lower IQs. Very complex music without vocals (such as classical or much big-band music) attracts higher IQ people.
It makes sense because low IQ people tend to like vocals and driving beats and long sweeping chords (hip hop, Christian music, etc).
And those same people really seem to laugh at and scoff at classical as snobby and "dumb".
ps. I don't remember where I read it, but a Christian said he doesnt' like Christian music (even the rock) because it sounds like they are singing to Jesus like he's a girlfriend.

Sorry, but an oxymoron. Rock and Roll is a worldly creation. "Christian" and "Rock Songs", don't belong together in the same sentence.
James 4:4 Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.
