No matter who is your team did you enjoy this years NHL playoffs?

I thought the games were really competative this year with lots of surprises.

What do you think about the various match ups and the out comes?

The two teams even though losing surprised me were the Red wings and the Leafs?

Update:

Also if we lined up all the teams again with a new playoffs, would the outcome be exactly the same?

So many games were so close. Was it possible for a different outcome?

I had a great time watching this years playoffs. Sure, I'm a Red Wings fan who's team fell in a dramatic game seven. But I never expected them to make it that far. So that was just a bonus for me. They lost to the better team. It was too one of my biggest rivals, but oh well. Historically they don't have much, so I guess its ok to give credit to my former Norris rival.

I wish the Canadiens (the other team I admire) would've made it further. And I thought for sure the Leafs were going to advance, but I got to see the greatest comeback I've ever seen. I expected the Penguins to go to the Cup final, so it was crazy for me to see a sweep. The Sens and Pens series was the most boring to me. The Penguins were so far superior to them that it was a joke to watch. The battle of California was cool. Vancouver was a disappointment to me though. Seeing the Islanders becoming relevant again was EPIC! Teams I had wished made it this year were the Flyers and the Jets.

The Cup Final was fun to watch. I'm not a fan of either team so I could careless who won.I just wanted a fun series to watch. Wish granted. The first game going to three overtimes was sweet. Shaw ended that game like Petr Klima ended Boston in 1990 in game one's 3rd overtime. The teams were evenly matched as far as I'm concerned. Just two different ways. The Blackhawks are now the darlings of the league. Posterboy dudes. The Bruins are the "get no respect, us against the world" attitude. It works for them. Game sixes win was nuts...to say the least. I thought we were heading to game seven. Nope. I give credit to the Boston Bruins fans for your class. They cheered the Cup, you stayed for your team and for the respect of the game. Congratulations Blackhawks fans. 1961-2009 was rough and you deserve a piece of the pie too.

BQ: a different outcome? Probably, but it is what it is. Looking forward to next season.

Honestly... Boston should have never made it past Toronto down 2 goals with that much time left in game 7. There were soo many OT games this year, that if we did this all over again the outcomes would be alot different i think. 1 Save or 1 more shot on goal could have been the difference between another game in the series (in any of the series) or a sweep if you look at it the opposite direction. My team missed the playoffs this year for only the second time in my life (2007 & 2013) but usually my team only makes playoff runs at the very end of the season... that being said.. if it was an 82 game season, the whole playoff picture could have been completely different.. My team was going on a hot streak at the end, but 48 games wasn't enough to bounce back from a tough start... the made it past the .500 mark though, so im okay with that, and the #11 pick in the draft cannot hurt us.

The playoffs were very exciting this year, despite a few boring match-ups. The Penguins being swept by the Bruins AND being limited to two goals in the entire series was the biggest surprise of them all. The Maple Leafs were a surprise, but it ended very sadly for them. The Red Wings defeated the Ducks in 7 and pushed the Blackhawks to a Game 7 in OT. The Kings and Sharks series was one of the best IMO. It was great to see the Blackhawks and Bruins, two Original Six teams, meet in the Stanley Cup Final for the first time in NHL history. It the end, my Blackhawks won the Cup and I couldn't have been happier. The Bruins had an amazing playoff run and should be very proud of themselves.

Ok so how i see it is it was successful for both of my favorite teams. My most favorite team since i was birthed has been the blackhawks. My home town team won the cup so I am ecstatic! The maple leafs are a team i like as well. They had some playoff experience and almost took out the bruins who made it to the finals. I feel that next year the leafs will have that experience and a better goaltender in bernier to go far into the playoffs and make it to the 3rd or 2nd round. Or make it to the finals! So an awesome season of hockey and cannot wait till the next one!

The playoffs were bittersweet for me. Overall I thought they were great matches and very entertaining to watch. I only would've hoped my team (The Leafs) could've moved on a bit further and knocked out the Bruins. It was devastating watching the last 11 minutes of third period in game 7 (they gave up a 3 goal lead and lost in OT). Even though my team didn't move on I was happy with all the series and the outcomes of each of the matches. I think the two teams in the final worked hard for their spots and were well deserved, however I would've preferred if it was a Leafs-Hawks match up. I was very ecstatic that the Hawks won the cup. As soon as the Leafs got eliminated I was hoping for the Hawks to win (I really like Toews and Kane. I also picked them because they were the only team left with a Canadian goalie AND Canadian captain.) I was very happy watching the game last night! I was at the edge of my seat all throughout 3rd. I was so nervous when Lucic scored, then Bickell scored and I was relieved that they were probably going to go into OT. When Bolland scored 17 seconds later I was shocked and so excited. I didn't expect it at all, but it was a nice surprise. Watching each individual player hoist the cup was a great feeling especially on Boston's ice, getting to see the disappointed Boston fans in the crowd. They finally experienced what us Leafs fans experienced at the end of game 7. (It was even better watching the Bruins walk off the ice sadly). I am so glad Crawford finally got his name on the cup after not getting it on the cup in 2010. I think he worked very hard and deserved the game 6 win.

If Boston had won their last regular season game then they would have been in 2nd seed and Montreal would've been in 4th seed facing the Leafs (5th Seed). If this would have happened I think the Leafs could have easily moved on further and possibly made it to the finals with Chicago. I don't think you could do anything to improve the west conference. I think the right winners won and no one deserved to be in the SCF more than Chicago.

I am very pleased with all of this year's playoffs and outcomes. I hope next year will be just as exciting! GO LEAFS!

  • Yes and No. When my team is out I'll usually root for the team that I prefer most, and in the Conference Finals, I don't like any team left. I was hoping the Red Wings would have moved on so I could not be uninterested by the Conference Finals; although seeing the Penguins getting swept really made up for the lackluster playoffs as a whole.

Yes. This was a great Stanley Cup postseason and I'm sad to not see a Game 7, especially as I was rooting for Boston because Calgary didn't take part in the playoffs.

Most series were extremely enjoyable, for example Boston vs Toronto or Chicago vs Detroit. I also liked how Vancouver got swept against San Jose and how Pittsburgh got swept by Boston, but in the end it's another postseason where I couldn't see my Flames. Maybe in a few years. now it's rebuilding time.

Yes. I didn't think my team would even make the play offs but they did continuing the longest play off streak in all major sports (22 years). Then they won the first series and went to game 7 against the eventual Stanley Cup winners. I enjoyed a lot of the other match ups as well.

If there have been no longer an incredible variety of communities making the playoffs How might my Leafs have a raffle. besides the fact that in the event that they are unlikely to have a balanced time table , how can a team from the South East branch get while in comparison with a team from the North East. i'm a relative new comer to Yahoo answer. yet i'm inspired with the variety of childrens exceptionally females that discover the 0.33 maximum suitable pastime interior the international so exciting.
