Are people really THAT upset about fans booing?
Really? I mean, the fans have paid their money to go to the stadium, and they can cheer or boo whoever they want in my opinion. If they are racist, sexist, homophobic or threatening then obviously it's crossing the line. But booing a guy who has admitted to taking illegal substances? And for some reason is allowed to still play? I don't think it's crossing the line. I think these precious Victorian commentators and journalists need to harden up a little bit. Are the fans allowed to boo one player, but not another? Are there going to be new rules introduced to the games, where the crowd can ONLY cheer, and no booing noises are allowed?
Just btw, I'm not a West Coast supporter at all

It kind of reminded me of when Chris Judd ran out at Subi for the first time against his old side. every time he got near the ball in that game. the booing started.
As Whay said. Watson would have been naive if he didn't think he was going to get booed in this game. after his admission to taking a banned substance. i hope it continues. his actions have brought the integrity of the game into disripute!
Zero tollerance for his actions i'm afraid to say.
Cheers.

Oh well - I just think a significant portion of the West Coast crowd is totally classless. They established it last year and proved it last night.
It's not a question of admitting to taking illegal substances. He didn't admit that at all - contrary to some other comments. The substances were never 'illegal' anyway but more importantly there remains a question or two about when the drugs were administered, whether they were what Jobe thought they were, when they were banned, and indeed (if they were banned) whether there was sufficient advice of that change and the level of knowledge or complicity of the player. It's a fairly complex area of law actually. All a bit too complicated for some to understand it seems.
Of course these morons can't distinguish between an admission of using a substance and an admission of guilt - all too much for them, so let's just boo.
Do I care much? Well - a bit because I think Jobe is a decent guy who may well have become tangled up in stuff he didn't understand so well.
IF and/or when he is proven guilty then I'm sure Jobe would be man enough to front up to whatever punishment. I for one hope that I keep seeing him on the footy field because he's one of the best and fairest players I've ever seen.

Can't believe the channel 7 commentators carrying on about it, Luke Darcy said he was staggered!!
Watson will cop worse than that when he plays against the Saints or Pies, even St Jimmy was shocked and disappointed about the reception, I can tell you as a Bombers supporter of over 40 years we would have done exactly the same if the boot was on the other foot, in fact I was at Windy Hill in 1973 when my hero the great former Captain and Premiership player Barry Davis returned to play his first game against Essendon after leaving to play for North under the short lived 10 year rule and he was booed by the majority of the crowd, Jobe had better harden up quick smart!

It's not that they are upset about the booing, it's just another opportunity to bash WCE fans. It's like anything else, it gets blown way over proportion because it's us.
If that game was against a Vic team and they booed him, it would be a non-story. I bet it WILL be a non-story next week when it happens.
Heck, just look at what Milne got before this latest development. If they were that concerned about booing, there should have been a stink up about it every week for almost the last 10 years.

What annoyed me the most is all the praise Essendon were getting from everyone, is this how we want people to see the game? everyone praising the gallant efforts of a team under investigation for their own wrong doing. I do feel for Jobe though, he didn't exactly know it was a banned substance so its entirely Essendons Fault, but he would have got the same reception anywhere else.
but hey I'm used to all the hate towards the eagles and supporters, we have copped it ever since the Ben Cousins saga 7 years ago. (aside from 2008-2010 i guess because we were terrible anyway so no-one cared)

They pay their money at the gate and as long as its not racist or sexist, thats fine. These are big boys out there, if they can't handle the crowd they can always retire.
Prenda, he has admitted taken a banned substance. It doesn't really need a jury trial to get a verdict. As soon as he admitted taking it he should have been stood down.

I'm not too worried about it, it will pass.
Jobe himself would have known coming in what response he was going to get, would have been naive or even stupid to not expect it.
A vast majority even on this site have been doing EXACTLY what the fans did, making calls to have his brownlow stripped, or even suspended. how is them booing any different? It isn't. There is no moral high ground here.
I didn't boo him, I do in fact like him. I still believe his brownlow should be kept and no suspension.

Smarten up mate, first of all the drug is not illegal, it is apparently on the banned list from WADA. ASADA have serioulsy stuffed up here, I've heard that Essendon have gone to ASADA and they gave the bombers the all clear, not knowing it was banned.
Secondly, the booing of Jobe Watson last night was not in the spirit of the game. How can they boo him when a verdict has not come out yet? Obviously Jobe said he had taken AOD for a reason. Poor form from West Coast fans, shows how disrespectful they are. 'Precious Victorian commentators', get a grip champ!

You got to remember it was Brain Taylor commentating and he really is a tool.
I don't think the fans booing and saying stuff to him directly would make him cry I think it was just a full on week for him and they won a game by coming from behind and the team probably did it or him etc etc
He is obviously must be under some pressure for that to happen last night. There's alot of AFL players that get booed every week and its water off a ducks back to them

No, it dooesn't really bother me at all. But coming from WCE supporters when you have Mainwaring who is dead, Cousins is on ice, Chad Fletcher was moments from death, Daniel Kerr eats ketamine and they boo Jobe Watson.
How can the WCE supporters justify that?
