The taino aren't native americans, they are American Indians. *

And there haven't been any full-blood tainos for centuries, and the taino tribe itself ceased to exist as a a tribe 400 years ago.

Besides which, the taino are from Puerto rico. The "tribe" in New Jersey is just a culture club for people who claim taino ancestry.

And just for the record....there are no "benefits" for even legitimate native americans.

    * Native American is a legal term that refers to a citizen of a federally recognized tribe. As the taino government was no longer in existence at the time the USA was created, it isn't a recognized tribe.

Your going to have to prove it on a census roll. Or it's just hear say. Did you know some tribes once you leave you loose your tribal identity. Every tribe is different. In fact most people come from native american blood lines but didn't live on the reservation and are not listed on census rolls on tribal lands so they can't be part of the native heritage, even though they were indians before the reservations were developed.

Some indians were in america in the 1200s. Then again only 2,000 to 10,000 were listed every two years in some rolls in the 1880s if they lived on an indian reservation, and a lot of indian tribes the government doesn't recognize.

Indians support Democrats 10 to 1 so in a way your better off not to mention it. Democrats have killed so many Indians, I don't know why native americans support the democratic party. Chris Stevens was a native american and look what happened to him...

Oh, Los Mojados is right. The guy below me. Native Americans are the most poor demographic in the United States. Your people are all poor bustards, even Chinese immigrants do better than your people in this country. Your screwed. You have some type of bad luck.

There are no fullblood Puerto Rican Tainos. There are descendants of various degrees of blood, but none that are fullblood. It is also not a recognized tribe, rather it is a descendancy group. The benefit of claiming this heritage amounts to nothing more than fostering a sense of personal identity, nothing more.

I'm pretty sure you can get health care and casino money. You need a lot of paperwork to prove that he's your biological grandfather and that he's Native American, though.

None. You are about 100 times more likely to live in poverty than your white friends.
