Haven't got my first shift at work yet?
Ok so I got a casual job at a retail store, I'm definitely hired because I signed all the paperwork and tax file declaration. The manager/store owner has sent my identity check away to be confirmed, and he said he'd call me when it was done and then I could sign the contract for work. It's been 6 days since he said that and I'm really worried he's just dismissed me already, or that I won't get any work at all. I'm struggling to pay rent as it is, and I need the job. How long does a background and identity check take to be complete in Australia before you can work? I am Australian born and completed 115 points of identification so that's all good. When can I expect to start work?
It doesn't need WWCC, it's just at a retail store, specifically Authentics Factory Outlet in Haymarket Sydney. Still confused as to what is going on...

It this is the WWCC, the rules changes a couple of weeks ago so you can expect the checks to take a week or so. After that you may be included in the next roster, and since they generally are made in two week blocks it's not unusual not to be contacted yet. Be patient.

It can take as little as one day for this check to come back.
Not one week. Time to give them a call.
