Was actor James Gandolfini a member of the Episcopal Church?

Curious if he Baptized there. Or married there? Did he attend regularly? Just wondering. Since his funeral was at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC I was curious about any connection he or any of his family members had with the Episcopal Church. Not every day that you find people whose parents were Italian who are Episcopalians. In my experience, many Episcopalians tend to have names like Richard Tallbot Evans III than James Joseph Gandolfini.

Gandolfini was probably a lapsed Catholic, assuming he ever was anything at all. They tend to Baptize their children in infancy. He was a supporter of many causes in his lifetime, including Catholic ones. But there is no real evidence that he was a member of any religious tradition. His bio talks about his Italian Catholic parents and how they were devout. His dad worked at a Catholic school for many years. But any information as to James' beliefs or practice in any religion are absent.

In the extensive coverage of the late actor's death and funeral, there did not seem to be any mention of any actual connection to the Cathedral of St. John the Divine. A fistful of money tends to be the only connection needed. Take that however you wish.

Actually, the majority of members in the Episcopal Church are Converts from other Denominations. I believe the worldwide number is about 62%.

As far as I know, he died a Catholic. But not having the service in a Catholic church, might have something to do with the fact that he was divorced & remarried. If he didn't get an annulment before remarrying, this would make him ineligible for a Catholic burial.
