Anne Meara was cremated when she died 5 years ago. Now Jerry Stiller is dead. Will he be cremated as well? It is CHEAPER after all.?
Meara was raised Catholic but said it was "dead to her". She obviously never got over her mother's suicide so easy to understand that she would blame the catholic church. So she converted to Judaism when she married Jerry. But she was cremated; not exactly a Jewish tradition. And they scattered her ashes. Definitely against Jewish teachings. How very odd. Maybe Jerry will be pickled and put on display?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality11 months agoOK, so a young guy of 17 died in a car wreck. Someone wrote in the online condolences "He had a bright future ahead of him."?
And I'm thinking..."HE DID? And how do you pretend to know that? The cops said he was going way too fast and he was not wearing a seat belt. Why would someone say he "had" a bright future ahead of him when what IS known is only that he is dead?
Who knows what the future ever holds for anyone and how dare someone pretend to think they do? Or are people just unable to express anything meaningful when someone passes away?
9 AnswersEtiquette4 years agoWill Tyler Summit's wife AnDe likely divorce him?
Tyler was coach of the LA Tech Women's Basketball Team. Not even married 3 years he admitted to an inappropriate relationship with a member of the team. Rumors are she was not the only one. His mother Pat just died a few days ago from Alzheimer's at 56. She was divorced too. Do you think they will split?
2 AnswersPolls & Surveys5 years agoWhy would the late Rev. Falwell have done marriage vows renewal for actor Mickey Rooney several years ago? The man was on his 8th wife!?
"Before visiting the D-Day Memorial on Sunday, Rooney and his wife, Jan, renewed their wedding vows in a private ceremony performed by the Rev. Jerry Falwell. The couple has been married for more than 25 years; she is Rooney s eighth wife."
4 AnswersMarriage & Divorce6 years agoWhy do so many African Americans use the word "axe" in place of "ask"?
" I axed her but she never gave me an answer." Have you EVER heard a White person use the word that way?
If schools are integrated and children of all races and backgrounds learn together.....why do only Afican Americans say this?
8 AnswersOther - Society & Culture7 years agoDoes simply saying you're a comedian mean you can say ANYTHING about ANYONE, no matter how vulgar, nasty, untrue or prejudiced it is?
Joan Rivers, Greg Giraldo, George Carlin all spewed nastiness. Peole laughed! In fact may doubled-over in hysterical laughter! But I wonder how people would have felt if THEY were the butt of the "jokes" and the one-liners. It's all funny till it's about YOU....or YOUR loved ones. So, cremated Jew jokes, dead baby jokes, ridiculing people's physical conditions, etc....ALL OK? As long as you say you're a comedian? Really? Spewing racial hate is ok? Mocking people's faith in God? No problem, right?

1 AnswerCelebrities7 years agoIs this "story" just another attempt to discredit religion and belief in God?
I have noticed this supposed story about good and bad college majors on Yahoo several times. It looks like a genuine story but the more I look I see the not-too-subtle agenda. The last two "bad" choices as college majors are PHILOSOPHY and RELIGIOUS STUDIES (read THEOLOGY!)
http://education.yahoo.net/articles/degrees_to_avo...
The story keeps popping up on Yahoo like it's NEWS. But my sense is that as usual, like the countless yahoo stories that have the word "gay" in them, there is an AGENDA on the part of yahoo. It is to plan in the subconscious of high schoolers that in no way would choosing philosophy or religious studies be a positive thing. If they were even THINKING about going into the ministry, these would be ideal majors. Philosophy for the underpinnings and then theology / religious studies to get them ready for pastoring.
Is it just me or does anyone else see what Yahoo is doing with biased reporting like this? Young people can be easily dissuaded by sources they believe. Making these choices look like they are useless or terrible ones will not encourage those who are considering ministry as an option.
10 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoWhy do so many TV weather reporters have to say "and I am METEOROLOGIST John Doe"?
Do other reporters say "and I am Jane Doe, Masters In Communications, wishing you a good day"?
WHY do so many weather reporters have to make a point of THEIR special degree/certification? Are we supposed to feel more confident with THEIR predictions than we would of those of a plain old weather reporter? How did this silly trend catch on? So many seem to feel the need to assert their title!
4 AnswersMedia & Journalism7 years agoWhat do you make of the "fake deaf interpreter" scandal at the Mandela Memorial?
The man who "signed" for the memorial has been exposed as a supposed fake. It has been said on many a TV network that his so called signing was all just meaningless and made-up. Professionals from various organizations for the deaf in S.A. have said this. This admitted schizophrenic was able to be a foot or so from President Obama as well as a number of world leaders. People are all upset because he is an alleged fraud. No one seems to be concerned that he was allowed to get that close to the US President!
Just curious about your reaction to what this situation meant to you. Thanks.
3 AnswersLanguages7 years agoDo terms like "best man" and "maid / matron of honor" really fit in today's world?
The term "actress" seems to have been replaced by "actor" and "comedienne" by "comedian." Long ago terms like "Negress" and "Jewess" seemed to disappear. Since the roles of Best Man and Maid (or Matron) of Honor are mostly to be official witnesses at a wedding ceremony, do you think it's high time those terms were changed to reflect the current reality? I have heard Ministers refer to the "Official Witnesses" at a wedding service. Seems to make sense to me. The very term BEST Man can be offensive to a person who believes himself to be closer to the Groom, yet passed over in favor of a sibling, father or other individual. Maid or Matron of Honor seems to have less of a negative impact since it is far less judgmental than calling one person the "BEST." Though "Matron" today, when speaking of a married woman seems to conjure up images of a PRISON Matron or guard of old!
What do you think? I am trying to help a young couple struggling with the issues of inclusion and PC in their upcoming wedding.
4 AnswersOther - Society & Culture7 years agoWill Virginia Gov. Bob Mc Donnell survive the federal investigation?
Rumors have it that once the Virginia gubernatorial elections are over a lot more will surface. Any idea if there will be any charges coming? If so, what if anything would he have done to merit that? Or has this just been a witch hunt because of his political affiliation? It did not sound to me like he broke any laws.
1 AnswerLaw & Ethics8 years agoAuthor and Wannabe Tom Clancy died. Why is the cause of death a secret?
No cause of death given. Just "died after a brief illness." Why would a family, an attorney,
and any friends he may have had want to attempt to hold back the cause of death? No funeral details. No place of burial or final disposiion. WHY? Because it's none of our business? Oh, but all other "news" IS? Seriously. What is so secret about the reason someone dies at 66?
6 AnswersCurrent Events8 years agoCan you think of any rule that certain religions have that are simply outdated or make no sense?
In the Southern Baptist tradition, most churches and pastors teach that you can't drink any alcohol at all. It's a sin. This causes many people to buy their alcoholic beverages in stores far from where they live. Pretty much no churchgoer is going to buy alcohol near home since they could be seen by a fellow member or by the cashier who knows them. To me it's a silly rule since drunkenness is a sin Biblically, not the mere drinking of alcohol.
Any other ones you feel the same way about?
8 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWas actor James Gandolfini a member of the Episcopal Church?
Curious if he Baptized there. Or married there? Did he attend regularly? Just wondering. Since his funeral was at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in NYC I was curious about any connection he or any of his family members had with the Episcopal Church. Not every day that you find people whose parents were Italian who are Episcopalians. In my experience, many Episcopalians tend to have names like Richard Tallbot Evans III than James Joseph Gandolfini.
