Will Virginia Gov. Bob Mc Donnell survive the federal investigation?

Rumors have it that once the Virginia gubernatorial elections are over a lot more will surface. Any idea if there will be any charges coming? If so, what if anything would he have done to merit that? Or has this just been a witch hunt because of his political affiliation? It did not sound to me like he broke any laws.

Hopefully it's all in the past at this point. But if he's been targeted it's likely they will not relent till they find something to try to hang him on. McDonnell may have been naïve as far as gifts to his family etc. Naïve is not the same as criminal. And just what benefits did the giver/s get out of the deal? I have not seen one word about a thing. Basic elements of a crime. There must be criminal intent and an illegal act must be committed. In his case as an elected official, if he accepted anything as a gift personally and did not report it, I would think there also needs to be some benefit that he gave to any supposed giver. Not heard a thing about any of that. It really sounds like a witch hunt because he is a conservative Republican. I assume he will be cleared of any wrongdoing. Maybe the laws on gifts to officials are lax and that may be the real issue here.
