Author and Wannabe Tom Clancy died. Why is the cause of death a secret?

Why not? what business is it of anyone how he died, or why his family prefers to keep it private? I wouldn't mind knowing, but if his family prefers not to share that information, it's their right.

Clancy was divorced from his first wife, smoked like a chimney and drank like a fish. He prided himself on all the nitty gritty littlle details he included in his novels as if he were a Washington insider. His books sold. People love that crap. He made lots of money. I hope he put some of it in the bank for his family / families. For some strange reason the families of most even slightly famous people like to keep all the little details of things like an illnes that claimed someone who was only 66, the funeral arrangements, place where he was or will be buried a big secret. Ironic since Clancy loved to disclose lots of things in his writings that stunned even Presidents and Secretaries of Defense. Exquisite irony that we don't even get to know if there was a funeral service or burial. And to your point, he was a fairly well known author throughout the world. It is of interest to his fans and followers as far as what happened to him. Keeping all that stuff from the public is just so silly. What would be the point?

Probaby something embarrasing to his family. My hunch is he died if lung cancer from all the cigarettes. Maybe cirrhosis. He could have had high blood pressure and stroked out. Not releasing the details just fuels speculation. And outright lies, like what were told when Canadian TV cooking show host Anthony Sedlak died last year at 29 never work. The news said he died from "an undisclosed illness." Not long after the Medical Examiner in BC asid it was a suicide. Hmmmm. The truth sets you free. Lies and coverups never help.

Although questioned in some quarters, a diagonal earlobe crease is correlated with cardiovascular disease. If you look at recent interviews with Clancy and pictures, he had a pronounced earlobe crease.

HIs most recent novel details exactly what the Russians are doing in the Ukraine, right now. May not be a coincidence.
