Can you cut a palm tree down part of the way down to keep it from growing too tall?

I have 4 palm trees in my yard and I love a tropical yard but the trees are getting so tall that it is hard to prune them. Can I cut the trees off part of the way down the trunk to keep it from growing too tall?I don't want to hurt or kill the trees. Will they grow the limbs back out?

Sadly, palms do not respond well to having their apical meristem (top growth point) cut. Why is their height an issue? You already live somewhere palm trees can grow, hotmama, some of us have to make do with friggin' Toledo Ohio, the Florida of....Canada.

if there's any confusion, the answer is 'no'....the palm needs it's green fronds left alone... you can remove dead frond and flowers, but everything else needs to stay as it grows.....
