Corporal punishment in school is illegal in Canada, nation wide.
In the US, different states have different laws. It is technically legal for a lot of schools to take your child and hit them.
School boards, however, typically have codes of conduct that surpass what is legal in their state. They're require parental consent or something.

In the USA, it's up to each individual state. The majority of states have banned corporal punishment in schools, but about 20 out of the 50 states do still allow it. It's mostly southern and midwestern states where corporal punishment tends to be more widely accepted. But then each school district can still choose whether or not to use it (I actually attended middle and high school in Alabama where it is allowed, but the specific district where I attended school did not practice it...the area of AL that I was in was more diverse and educated than some other parts of the state). And, anywhere that they do allow it, parents have to sign a permission form, so parents do at least have the option to request that their child not be paddled.

Good day, the place I grew up in Nova Scotia there have been no Catholic schools for boys however there have been faculties for women run by means of the Sisters Of Charity. My 3 sisters went to these faculties whilst I was once in the public approach. Now I got strapped twice in university for performing up in line and repeatedly now not having my homework achieved respectively. My sisters had been not ever touched bodily however the nuns have been excellent at psychological conflict. For illustration in case you have been being bullied, no sympathy. Be courageous like the Christians within the Roman arenas and face your quandary you sniveling little coward used to be the attitude of the nuns. I moved to Alberta the place they have a Catholic university system and the universities are under the jurisdiction of provincial laws and corporal punishment has been banned for the last two decades. Before that I did not hear any horror experiences about it. Cheers, Michael Kelly

I don't know about Canada.
In the US, I know there are some schools that do. None of those are public schools and they all had the parents sign papers giving their permission.

No it isn't. It's illegal thankfully. I wouldn't want my child to be hit by a stranger.
