Christians, do you _really_ want to find the truth?

After all, there are a lot of different religions, and if we really want to find the right one shouldn't they all be held to the same standard of proof?

So that being said, if the requirement for Christianity not being true is for non-believers to prove that it isn't, shouldn't it be required for Christians to disprove every religion they claim to be false, using only evidence they would accept as proof that Christianity is false?

Update:

Tommieca, if what you hold to be 'acceptable evidence' of things said in a book, is that the book itself said that what was in the book was true, then you must also accept that Muhammad is the one true prophet (inshuallah), and that god requires of you a blood sacrifice to cleanse your sins, and you must not eat cows because the Hindu pantheon disapproves of such things.

I'm not interested in disproving other religions, as if I could even do such a thing. I feel that people have a right to believe as they wish, as long as they're not harming others. I attend both Christian and non-Christian services. I don't think that finding a path that works for me means that I somehow have to denigrate all other possible paths. I don't feel a need to go around labeling other people's chosen belief systems as "false". However, if I had that kind of obsession, then yes, Christianity would need be held to the same standards and scrutiny as any other religion. I do feel that there can be educational value in analyzing sacred texts in the same manner as secular literary works.

Those who are serious about religion should think that the one they’ve chosen is acceptable to God and Jesus. Otherwise, why would they be involved in it?

Jesus Christ didn’t agree with the view that there are many religions, many roads, all leading to salvation. Rather, he said: “Narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.” (Matthew 7:14) Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that they’ve found that road. Otherwise, they’d look for another religion.

I'm so glad that I found the Truth by listening to Jehovah's Witnesses. I watched them and learned about them for over a decade to see if I could find anything wrong with their beliefs, and I could not find a single thing. So I became a Witness at the age of 25.

Standards of truth, meaning "scientific" standards, don't work well in systems of faith and belief. And so, the standards are often "personal" in nature - what is true for the individual. Quite obviously, what one has adopted as true for oneself will mean that everything else is either not true, or not as exactly true as it could be. And that's the way it is - human nature.

Christians are the intellectual equivalent of people who eat fast food for every meal...

Because most know it's bad for them but it's easy and it tastes good.

Because the FACT is Christianity is the most violent and dangerous organisation but if you join them you never need to use your brain ever again because you get all your answers from 1 handy book and you don't have to worry about being isolated from big parts of society like atheists have so just believe whatever they told like good little sheep.

The rules for finding truth, function the truth's own way, not your way, not my way, not someone elses way. The ways of the truth lead the way they do, and that way, is Jesus Christ. I am not charged with overthrowing the whole world's ignorance. Each person is given to find the truth, for themselves. I don't have to prove anything to you that you would not prove, to yourself.

Your life is yours with which to do and to have of the ways you choose. Mine is mine to do and to have of the ways I will choose. I'll help you, if you let me. Otherwise, I have nothing for you.

I will point out your way of offering matters should be accomplished, is unreachable and impractical.

But that would take effort, they are intellectually lazy.

They want the ALL of the answers to everything, with minimal amount of work.

The internet is FILLED with lies on the surface. You have to know where to look in order to find the scientifically accurate. And they should start by Looking up the peer-review process. and Learning what an "Impact Factor" Is as well as learning how to check peer-review...

I'm a Christian, and I agree. I think all religions are correct in some aspects and wrong in others.
