Laptop's keyboard won't work?
My Acer Aspire's keyboard won't work, and currently I'm using the on-screen keyboard and speech recognition. Even though useful, these apps suck, especially speech recognition. I'd really like my keyboard back!
The mouse and screen work perfectly fine. I don't know what happened; just this morning I turned on the computer and the keyboard wouldn't function.
I suspect it's like a setting somewhere on the control panel and hopefully not an internal problem, otherwise that might get expensive. Please help!

Hmm, without a disgnostic these things can be trouble to troubleshoot, If this appeared out of the blue i assume you've tried rebooting it.
By the sounds of it, Its looking like a hardware failure, though not all hope is lost. You could run some BIOS diagnostics via f12 or your default key on startup.
If you're feeling lucky and still have the windows disc you can try and run windows repair, it likely wont do anything since a keyboard hardware failure would rely on windows components, Im no professional though, And this surely is not the best answer.
A much simpler and likely to work method is visiting acer's website and re installing / update your keyboard drivers.

Well this can happen from many things, usually internal. Exposure to moisture, dropping the laptop, or handling it roughly can cause this ( there are many more causes these are just the most common) occasionally it might just be a hardware failure. Most computer stores will look at it and tell you if you need a new keyboard or not for free. And a new keyboard won't be very expensive at all.

Firstly, I think u have water that seaped inside the notebook keypad that need to be dried and clean. You may need to open the parts and clean the keyboard. It should cure the problem. To replace a notebook keyboard is not that difficult, it depends on the model and u can get some parts from ebay easily or from your trusted computer stall. ($12-$50) You can choose to plug in an external keyboard to your notebook. Depends on the ports that u have on your notebooks. If it doesn't have a keyboard port than there should be USB for you to buy a USB keyboard and plug in ($15 - $200). Weigh the price differences you want to pay to fix your problem. If its not too much I reckon that opting out the external keyboard will be a better choice.
