How do you become a model?

Hi, I'm just curious about how you become a model. I know it's really hard and you need to be really thin and tall, but is it like the acting business where it's pretty much you need to have connections in the business or what? Do you go to open calls? Do you need an agent? Just wondering. Thanks :)

Modeling jobs are usually provided by modeling agencies or casting agents. When an advertiser wants to find models for an ad campaign, a brochure or a TV commercial, it asks a modeling agency to provide models who fit the style of the advertising. This is the role of your agent, to ensure that you get the right type of modeling jobs, and this is why it is important to have an agent or agency represent you.

MODELS.com makes your portfolio accessible to leading agencies throughout the world who already manage the career of thousands of other models. It is a convenient, safe and affordable way to get discovered.

Whether you live in Dallas, TX or in Madrid, Spain, MODELS.com makes your portfolio accessible to a large list of agencies, all in one place, that cover every modeling category (fashion/editorial modeling, fitness, plus size, real people, etc...). Keep in mind being represented by a modeling agency does not mean you are guaranteed to get modeling work. The modeling business is very competitive and can be hard to break into, make sure you read about the requirements before deciding if you want to invest any significant time and money into it.

Keep in mind modeling is a very competitive business and it is not easy to break into. MODELS.com cannot guarantee that you will get signed by a modeling agency or get modeling work from your exposure on MODELS.com.

(I just literally copied that from the link below, haha)

But there are many other sites filled with agents looking for inexperienced aspiring models with GOOD intention. Scroll through the different sites in Google. (:

    Hope I helped! x

You need an agent, at least that's what I did try taking classes or getting in touch with other models.
