Have you noticed that young men are being sexualized the way young women have always been?

Not knocking any show in particular as a whole BUT I don't like it when half naked buff men are popping up all over talk shows where women increasingly treat them like pieces of meat. (I don't object to what they're doing at all .. eye candy is good .. but I DO object to the way they're talked to/about).

It's the same thing men have been bashed for when they did it to young women! There's a rising trend of anoerexic and bulimic young men in our country and now I'm seeing this on TV .. particularly on daytime talk shows. Instead of being more respectful of men AND women, have we just taken on this disrespectful behavior traditionally attributed to men?

Update:

I totally agree that it DOES happen to women more, but why do we have to start doing the same to young men instead of learning to be respectful of both.

Update 2:

I totally agree that it DOES happen to women more, but why do we have to start doing the same to young men instead of learning to be respectful of both.

What people fail to realize that everyone is sexual. Don't tell me a women don't mind having a skinny, clean cut, shiny abs guy. I mean come on. It goes the same way for a guy and so on. I see it all the time especially on tumblr which has a lot of women bloggers who constantly post pictures of the same type of guys all around. I mean you don't see a fat guy being glorified. But my point is that everyone has a type of person their attracted to, or more. Also it seems that feminist don't take it into account for gay men. I mean if men always sexualize women, do gay men sexualize men? Do lesbian women sexualize women as well? I mean it seems to be some sort of hypocrisy that women seem to have a better understanding of people when its not true.

Saying "it's been done to women, now let's see how men like it" is really just an excuse for hypocrisy. But I would say the same thing about those men as I do about the women: They volunteered to be there. They don't have to do it if they don't want, and I think a lot of the criticism comes from jealous people who do not get as much attention.

I agree that it's appalling that it is now happening to men as well as women.

Sadly though, since we can't seem to stop men from doing it to us a lot of women have now adopted the "if you can't beat 'em join 'em" attitude.

This is pretty much a case of you reap what you sow. You don't like it? Campaign to stop it for everyone, male and female.

    Nope.

Young men are NOT being sexualised the way women are. Just because you've seen it on one show doesn't mean its an actual societal problem. its not. Eating Disorders are a problem which can affect both sexes, for a variety of reasons, including pressures by society/media.

If we just promoted free thinking none of these problems would exist.

Women are sexualized about 100 times more. I say it's about time to sexualize men!
