Neighbors have CCTV pointing into my yard!?

It's a covert camera that looks like a motion detector, but after some looking online, I have discovered what it really is. It is facing directly into my yard and I would presume that it is capturing nothing BUT my backyard.

This is illegal right?

Update:

Actually NEIL, my earlier question still applies and this specific question I have asked before maybe a year or so ago and relates to my OTHER neighbors, who actually gave me the idea. I am getting conflicting answers on this issue and still don't know what is right and what is wrong. I'll just continue monitoring my property, not someone elses exclusively. Seems wrong to me.

A cctv camera on someone else's property but pointed at your yard would be legal. You have no reasonable expectation of privacy outside, even on your own property.

You can have cameras pointed wherever you want as long as they are on your property. At least in the US...(Just noticed this was an Australian question)

it can be extremely illegal to covertly survey your neighbors property. If i were you i would call the local police department and have a talk with them about your options. Alternately, you could go have a chin wag with them to see whats up.. they might have been burgled and suspect your property as a point of entry. In any case you have options and the law is on your side if you choose to act on it.

Interesting. Three and then two hours earlier you posted that YOU had two cameras pointed into their yard. So are you a troll, or does everybody have cameras pointed at everybody?

Yes, but before you freak out, why don't you go and ask your neighbors about it.

You should hangout in your yard naked and see if they call the police.
