anybody familiar with Billy Lanes hubless wheel?

Im wondering if it has any advantage [besides looking cool!] I see pics but no real specs [like weight] I see the Dodge Tomahawk is [was] hubless and I have seen a sport bike with a hubless variation. Billy creates some wild stuff I think pure genious [for choppers] I just wonder how it works and how practical it is?

Not practical, otherwise everyone would use it. I agree that it looked cool as hell, but it has been tried a few times in the past and never caught on. Since the styling is great I would have to believe it was due to the specs that it wasn't any good

A pretty piece of art, but I can't think of a single advantage and so many obvious disadvantages. Really almost a Goldfard device. Might be a cool theme for a chopper, the Goldfarb chopper. Just taking off the gas cap could be this 20 step process.

Did watch a video about them a couple of months ago, was pretty fascinating.

Not sure how they would apply to motorcycles, I'll need to review that video with that concept in mind.

I did wonder about the gearing with that enormous rear "sprocket".
