Is being religious a generational thing?

So I know a lot of atheists like to say that anybody who believes in god is a moron but I don't think so because I know a lot of educated people who also believe in god and creation, not evolution.

For example, my mom has a bachelors in business and my dad has a master and PhD in engineering which is one of the hardest degrees and he earns alot of money but they both believe in god and abandon their normally good senses when it comes to religion.

How much of a role do you think tradition plays in people of a certain generation not being willing to give up religion because of what their parents believed in?

The fact of the matter being religious is a thing where God will call you if your a child of God an if your not then your a child of satan, you can't serve two masters either you will love the one or hate the other, you can't serve God an mammon, you can only serve one master. God or satan, one or the other, you will be either good or evil, im just paraphrasing it.

Thank God, they love God because just think of the chaos you would have been born into if not.
