Employer not paying me for work that i done?

I left recently because i was disgusted with the way they cared for the elderly an didn't want to be a part of. I phoned the manager asking when i will get my 3 day pay and she has told me it was only "work experience". As i have an NVQ 3 in Care and have worked in the care all my life that is rediculous. Nothing was mentioned in the interview apart from it was a full time job. I phoned again and now shes telling me "i'm not getting paid" and slammed the phone down which is appauling. I phoned back later and asked which someone claimed to be the company director said i only worked half a shift. Which is not the case i worked 33 hours thats week. Can anyone give me some info on what to do?

There are very strict laws that all employers must abide by, I would threaten to report them to the agency that handles complaints and if they don't abide then do so, you should get your pay with interest in no time and they will get fined.

First thing you need to do is write down (preferably on a calendar) the hours that you worked each day including the time you started and the time you ended. This and any other information that you collect could be used as proof. It would have been a good idea to have recorded your conversations with that company, especially their explanation of non-pay. I am not familiar with an NVQ 3, but I assume you would have had to sign for this. If you didn't, this could also be in your favor. You could then contact the Labor Department in your area. If you have an information call number you could ask them or look in the phone book in the "blue pages" if you are in the United States. A call to information may result in a charge, but in the states, there are services information numbers, such as 311 or 211. Good luck!

Source(s): Have reported and friends have reported to US Department of Labor local and received pay.

    This is a clear matter.

The basic principle of contract law exists. You work - they pay you for your work, its as simple as that.

    based on your question content.

You must phone them stating you want your pay within 3 days if you do not get it you will inform the local newspapers ref the way they treat their clients.

Also that you have sought legal advice and will pursue this to a small claims court. keep copy's of date times and who you speak to.

You need to go to the Citizens Advice Bureau.
