Where in the Bible does it depict pedophilia as wrong or a sin?

What verses show pedophilia being wrong?

Update:

@Dawn, so give me just one verse that says it.

Update 2:

@ Andrew, lol yes I believe it wrong. I don't need a book to tell me right from wrong. But there are people who do.

There were a number of answerers who didn't quite get what you were on about.

NO where in bibel does it say Slavery, Rape or Child Molestation is wrong.

“How could the biblical authors, who were said to have been so close to God and what he knew, have been so ignorant.”

“Just think how insightful a book that actually came from a Creator would be...

Beautiful mathematics, comprehensive laws of physics, clear biology, consistent morality and ethics among other gems.

Instead we get a bizarre book on talking snakes, burning bushes, slaves, Neolithic philosophy and a strange preoccupation with everyone's sex life”.

Quite frankly, if you need the carrot and stick idea of heaven and hell to behave, then you're not a moral person at all; you're a sociopath leashed by fear and self-interest.

It's important to note that the Bible has never been understood as the sole and only authority of the Christian faith. That's just a modern Protestant innovation that did not come into existence until the Reformation of the 16th century. And even then, Martin Luther and the early Reformers didn't even understand Sola Scriptura as radically as modern Evangelicals do now. That being said, the Church has always had binding Canon laws that forbid certain sexual unions such as pedophilia. I'm sure that the Jewish Talmud does too.

But, even from a Scripture basis, pedophilia WAS condemned, but not explicitly. The Old Testament forbad ANY sexual relations with anyone other than your spouse and/or concubine--both of which were identical, only difference was that a wife was given a dowry and a concubine was not. You may retort "Well what about marital pedophilia?" In which case, one has to understand how marriage worked back then.

Marriage during the time of the Old Testament wasn't like today where everyone was free to date and go out and choose their own spouse and decide to get married. Most marriages were arranged back then, and when they weren't, either the groom or his family had to negotiate the terms of the marriage with the bride's family--most importantly, her father.

Do you know any father or parent who would give their child away to a pedophile or to a person they thought would sexually abuse them? It's common sense that most of them wouldn't. That being said, I don't see how pedophilia would have even been possible except in the case of rape--in which case, rape was already condemned and thus they would have been punished.

Look up the word "Fornication", this covers a lot of very nasty stuff that the Bible chooses not to be that graphic about.

In case you do not have a dictionary":

    1. voluntary sexual intercourse between two unmarried persons or two persons not married to each other.

Acts 15:20 but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood.

    NKJV

The term sexual immorality is translated in other versions with different words one of which is fornication.

There were a lot of acts covered by the chapter in Leviticus concerning incest and other acts between those who could be considered "guardians" and a child.

It is not discussed in the Bible. That doesn't mean it isn't wrong.

Internet pornography is obviously wrong, but the Bible does not talk about it.

Jesus *NEVER* intended for the Bible to be the final source for Christianity, heck, it wasn't even compiled until almost 400 years after Jesus died. Jesus left us instead with a *Church* to be an authority on issues like this. And the Church, obviously, finds pedophilia acts wrong.

Aspects of this practice are condemned at Deuteronomy 23:17, 18.

"None of the daughters of Israel may become a temple prostitute, neither may anyone of the sons of Israel become a temple prostitute. You must not bring the hire of a harlot or the price of a dog into the house of Jehovah your God for any vow, because they are something detestable to Jehovah your God, even both of them."

There God spoke against becoming a temple prostitute (“or, ‘a catamite,’ a boy kept for purposes of sexual perversion,”). These verses also forbid anyone to bring into “the house of Jehovah” the price of “a dog” (“likely a pederast; one who practices anal intercourse, especially with a boy,”).

These Scriptural and secular references establish that what this discussion was about a child’s being made the object of sexual abuse, including fondling, by an adult.
