Transgender and sexual identity disorder?
Our society, dealing with bullies, are trying to fight back against body shamers. If someone is overweight and dislike their bodies, we tell them that they are beautiful the way they are and they should walk tall.
Meanwhile, a man wants to be a woman, we pat them on the back and support their decision to disfigure themselves in order to change their image.
Why do we tell some people they are beautiful the way they are and they don't need to change, and tell others that we support them and even praise them for their change? Which is it? Should we be proud of who we are, or should we go through extreme lengths to change who we are?
Let's be honest, losing weight is a little less expensive and disfiguring then gender transition and reconstruction.
4 AnswersLesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender5 years agoCan the noncustodial parent claim the child if the custodial parent takes no part in the US taxes?
My child's mother is not from the US nor does she reside in the US. She does not file taxes or have anything to do with the taxes in the US.
Since she cannot/does not claim my daughter, does that mean I get to? I have looked up and know there is a form 8332 for the release of claim to exemption of child by the custodial parent, but it requests the custodial parents SSN. She doesn't have a SSN though.
11 AnswersUnited States6 years agoWhy do you suppose God feared man working together?
Genesis 11:1-9 explains how man came together to build a city and in that city a tower that would reach the heavens. Amidst their building God feared that if man came together like this nothing would be impossible for them, so he went down and scattered them over the earth. He confused their tongues.
Why do you suppose God feared man so? If you don't think God did this out of fear, explain why you think God did this.

7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhat is it that makes incest wrong?
So a question was asked regarding incest and I want to see what various answers are given.
I have seen some say because the Bible says so; yet the Bible had to have supported it throughout the populating of the earth.
I have seen some say because it leads to genetic defects, but how is that different from breeding with people whom we know to have defects that can pass genetically?
I have seen people say it's gross; but does gross imply wrong? If so, then I would argue eating pineapple is wrong because I find it gross.
I'm not trying to support the act, just want different opinions on what exactly makes it wrong. I prefer realistic answers if you don't mind. Please also state your religious affiliation or if you have none what you are (atheist/agnostic/etc).

16 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoNear death experiences and memories?
I asked before, but I'd like to broaden the answers.
I'm sure we have all heard stories from people who were pronounced clinically dead or experienced a near-death experience where they say they saw heaven/hell or various other experiences perhaps.
It is my understanding that our memories are physical, they are housed in our brain. When we damage a part of our brain we may be unable to retain or recall memories, we may lose short-term/long-term memory. Some suffer from a degenerative disease where we slowly lose our memory.
So how do you theorize that we can have out of body experiences, and yet we can retain the memories of those experiences as we return to our body. I guess what I am looking for is...
Are our memories actually housed in our brains, and our brains are just a tool to access them from our spiritual self.
Or is it more plausible to assume that those "out of body experiences" occurred within the confines of the mind?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoA question about near-death experiences?
I have heard many stories where people claim they passed to the other side and then give a detailed explination of what it was like. I've heard both Heaven-like and Hell-like accounts.
My understanding is that memories are stored in a physical part of our brain. Cells or what not. My question is, how does one retain memories of their spiritual body being completely seperated from their physical body, yet somehow have the ability to recall those memories in the physical body?
Is science wrong, are memories not connected to our physical bodies at all?
Are the claims misinterpretted as out of body experiences that actually exist within the confines of the mind?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoIs this just a coincidence, and what is your take on it?

I asked this earlier, but I want new answers from new people.
Compare the two maps, you can see that generally where Christianity is denser, so too is the rate of documented homicides. Why do you suppose this is?
3 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhere in the Bible does it depict pedophilia as wrong or a sin?

Is it just a coincidence that the map depicting the population of Christianity is almost identical to the map depicting rate of homicide?
6 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoInfinite versus finite?
Is it just for a being to invoke infinite punishment upon another being for a finite crime they commit?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoInfinite versus finite?
Is it just for God to punish man with an infinite punishment for mans finite sin?
Since it's an infinite torment, and there is no means for retribution; also, it is not a disciplinary action as the torment has no intentions of curving or correcting behavior, isn't it safe to say that our pain is for his personal pleasure?
