Why are his shirts always heavy and smelly?

I usually wash and fold the laundry for my fiance and I. Even before we moved out of our parents' houses, I remember his shirts having this problem.

I can tell which shirt is going to smell bad (like stale water or something) when I first pick it up to fold it because it's heavy. Around the chest and back of the shoulders it feels almost oily, like it leaves a thin residue on the fingers. It's only his shirts, even when washed in the same load as mine. Only cotton t-shirts too I believe.

It drives me nuts and I feel like I just want to throw them out! Has anyone else experienced this?

You're using to much detergent and/or fabric softener.

You would notice the smell when it went into the washer, not when you take it out of the dryer.

Does he work in fast food? Grease from the fryers could cause something like that, but, again, not coming out of the dryer.

I think it's in your head, personally.

Have him do his own laundry if it's THAT big a deal.
