FAA knowledge tests materials?
I'm going to take the knowledge test for private pilot next weekend and I was wondering what you're allowed to use. I'm assuming you're supposed to bring pencil/paper to do some of the work but I would like to bring my calculator and flight computer as well. I have a TI-84 silver addition calculator with no stored programs or any memory on it besides what comes with it when you buy it (which are mostly just trial apps and things like a sig fig calculator). Will they let me use it? Also I have a E6B manual flight computer as well as a CX-2 electronic flight computer - it too has no data/memory. Will they let me use either or both of these? Finally, will I need to bring a plotter or anything? I prepared for the test by using the gleim online course and all of the charts, graphs, etc. were online but I preferred to print them out to use them... so for the FAA's test are the supplements online or do they give you hard copies? Also if they are online do they give you a "virtual plotter" to measure distance/angles on the screen?

THe test supplement is a hard copy . Take your cx-2 and e-6b if you want.(there is a e6b function with in the test on the computer, all you have to do it "hit" the icon) THe proctor will (should) require you to remove the batteries to clear anything stored. You will need your plotter. Pencil and paper is supplied.

If you do not have a copy of the "Private Pilot Knowledge Test Guide" and / or have never heard of it somebody has dropped the ball regarding your ground school training or you weren't paying attention. . In that guide is a full explanation of the requirements. Read it for yourself: http://www.faa.gov/training_testing/testing/test_g...
