When to use "is" or "are" in a sentence?
My sentence is:
How are the perimeter doors protected?
Word wants to change "are" to "is" but "is" is regarding a singular- when my subject (doors) is plural. This is driving me crazy, and its been years since I took grammar in school, so can someone help me out here please?
That's what I was thinking- thanks you guys. The report is going to a few people in Europe, so I'm trying to get it right, but as I'm not the only one reviewing it, others are allowing microsoft word to change it back to "is". I'm just going to have to make a note to leave it alone =D

because word cant detect the door as the subject, thats maybe the reason .
i think your sentence is right.
Im not very good in english grammar but the thing that even americans cant perfect their grammar. then why worry.
