IS there a middle ground anymore?

It seems like your are either far left or far right these days. with every issue being taken to extreme measure instead of focusing on a middle ground where both parties can get somewhat what they wanted? Are we turning into a nation of extremism with little rational thought instead of negotiation and reason?

    Never was.

Take ANY issue: I'll illustrate with federal control of your health care choices. What's the middle ground between increasing that control and not increasing that control?

As for negotiation, you are unable to cite even once in your lifetime that Democrats upheld their end of ANY deal. HOW do I negotiate with you if that's how you operate? More illustrations: Democrats demanded amnesty for criminal infiltrators. Republicans resisted. Democrats promised enforcement of existing laws and support for a security package Republicans wanted in exchange for Republican supp rt of amnesty. Republicans delivered the amnesty then the Democrats IMMEDIATELY voted NOT to enforce existing law NOR to add security. Budgets? "Give us some tax-increases," the Democrats said, then we'll support spending reductions. They GOT the tax-increases then UNANIMOUSLY voted for INCREASED spending. When they were called on this, asked, "how about those spending cuts?" they had the balls to reply, "we'll need some tax-increases first" and where Republicans pointed-out YOU JUST GOT SOME, the entire Democrat caucus went on TV to say the GOP was refusing to compromise.

Now see if you can find even a single instance of "compromise" that DIDN'T go that way. WHEN you fail, you might begin to recognize the problem.

It has continually been this manner. you've the left, you've the right and those interior the middle who get dragged kicking and screaming one way or the different. Why? because the middle does no longer stand for something. in case you do not stand for something you'll fall for something. what's the authentic looking position on abortion? Um, perhaps only enable a restricted huge type in accordance to 12 months? what's the authentic looking position on the death penalty? only style of kill them? what's the authentic looking position on the conflict on terror? On Iraq? On gun administration? On something? i'm a conservative. I have many center values and preserve them with my life. Liberals have their own beliefs or maybe regardless of the truth that i do not consider them and wrestle them each and every inch of a thanks to circumvent them from triumphing, I nonetheless recognize them for taking a position. yet moderates? How do you recognize someone who waits to make sure which way customary opinion is going in the previous taking a position? .

I'm not sure financial conservatives are Far Right. Individuals have to prioritize our spending. The Left always are saying it is unfair for someone not to have a minimum life style. Is it fair to have our Grandchildren pay for fairness today?

The majority of Americans think the reps are too extreme ...

I haven't noticed anything about the dems more extreme.

The reps took a decided shift away f/ the middle when Obama was elected.

The media has a narrative they're "selling" but the common people are much more rational even if they disagree.

@Steve Rogers- What's your point? You throw a link out there to a study that even if it's accurate doesn't mean anything outside of your "implied" meaning. Just like the media you're setting out to divide us. Shame on you.

I don't think that the majority of people are either far left or far right. I think it is mainly the government officials that are that way, or else seem to be that way for many reasons.

That is a false narrative. There is center left and far right in this country. There isn't a Far left in America, just because the Far right calls the center far left doesn't make it so.

Forty percent of Americans are conservative, only twenty percent are liberal.
