Got my gerbils yesterday, is this one shy or ill?
I bought 4 gerbils yesterday, since I bought them the white red eyed one (the eyes went black once?) wont move from the middle floor (so he's on bars which can't be comfy) and sitting in corner, he looks dead but every now and then he moves, and another gerbil wont leave his side, and sometimes sits on him...is there anything wrong with it? It's only a baby...

Don't worry too much i'm sure hes fine. Its a big move for just a little baby from being at the pet shop/breeder to a whole new place its scary! Imagine being took from your home and placed in a random place not knowing were you are or who this person is looking into your cage;] He might of got into shock, or hes tired maybe angry. Wait overnight see if hes eating or drinking and if hes not then maybe take him to a vet. And about the eyes they change with age. Good luck!

To be honest I don't have gerbils but it sounds like the others want to care for it. He doesn't sound shy, if he were any contact with other gerbils would be avoided. I think he is sick, eyes going black when they are naturally red? Appearing to be dead? Sounds like an illness

sometimes animals are nervous at first when they get to new places you need to let them get used to their surroundings before u handle them too much then they shouldnt be so shy
