Some Christians say it was, some say it wasn't. R&S Christians, what do you say? And please explain your answer.

The definition of sin includes failing to do what should be done.
In the Bible at Genesis 2:16, 17 we see that Adam received a commandment: "And Jehovah God also laid this command upon the man: “From every tree of the garden you may eat to satisfaction. But as for the tree of the knowledge of good and bad you must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die.”
Adam and Eve were commanded not the eat the fruit and were warned that if they did eat the fruit the would die. They chose the eat the fruit thus disobeying God's commandment.

At Genesis 2:17, God clearly commanded Adam and Eve not to eat from "the tree of the knowledge of good and bad" and even told them what would happen if they did eat from that tree. They chose to disobey this command and thus sinned. A sin is a transgressing of divine law or anything that is not in harmony with God's personality, standards, or will.

What parent would knowingly put honey or some sweet treat within the reach of their child, simultaneously scolding the child "if you eat it, you will die"?
An all knowing all encompassing creator God would know exactly what that temptation would lead to. Do you think God did not know the outcome?? Of course he did...human parents can predict with certainty that putting temptation in front of children is tantamount to assuring that the child will in fact take the temptation.
The most ridiculous and preposterous story ever foisted on the gullible, to suggest a loving God would allow or have anything to do with presenting his newly designed and innocent children (Adam and Eve) to such a despicable and unloving trick.
Why can't everyone recognize this story for what it is? It is no different than any other cultures simple reasoning on how we all got started. Read the ideas of the ancient Egyptians, or the ancient indigenous indians around the globe, their ideas echoing similar participants: talking animals, gods to men, men to gods, serpents to men, birds to men...it is just another origin story.

Adam and Eve are sinners because they made the mistake and choice of their decision to not listen to god's warnings of the forbidden fruit.God knew it would have led them both to serious trouble in the making of such decision.and as well knew they were not going to be perfect enough in passing his test to begin with yet luckily for us as for them we can always receive second chances so that we could prove to god that we can fix our sins in this example and make things right again even if the damages have all been already done. Because after all we are only human beings for human beings it is natural to make mistakes that were not intended through such purposes. Even if we did knew it was wrong because we cannot always be perfect in usually maintaining or handling our situation in most cases by right every time. We just blow at them even if we didnt mean it on purpose which is completely natural even if it was still bad.but that does not mean that we must still choose to continue though and cause the wrong intention by continuance. but rather learn from the mistake.if they made that mistake of eating the fruit in the first place then they were probably born as sinners or sinful people from the beginning. Not to say that this makes them born as evil people by necessarily. But to mean that it is definitely a given choice and power of our own responsibility ! we have two ears one whispering good and the other whispering bad.two sides in us of right and wrong; and two separate making decisions in which we choose to work through based upon our own will and judgement toward our specific actions. A good and an evil powers or known as free will as called. there certainly was a reason why this had happened between these two people from the first place in order to identify weather the proof of this power had actually existed among humans. And so as we can see today as of now it is certainly existing among us all. and for this we need to receive salvation as well as repentance from God so we do not fall into our deadly mistakes of evil or from bad intentions of decision making powers. And understand above all why as we do learn from the reason for it .it is all only for the better of all people in this world. In the hopes of creating the right decisions for a better future among us all by looking through jesus and god forever who are the only ones that can help watch and be able to give blessings over to us all.

God said "don't eat the fruit" and they ate the fruit. Of course it was a sin. Even before the Ten Commandments were given, it is written that the Law of God was written on the hearts of man.
It is also written "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned"
But why "one man?" Didn't Eve eat the fruit first? Well, in Romans 5, the context of who this "one man" is is clearly given to Adam.
So we return to Genesis, Adam was right by Eve when the Devil was tempting her and he was silent! He, as the head of his wife and of the first church, did not say a single word and allowed it all to occur before his very eyes. There we have a sin. It is not only evil to hurt others but to allow others to be hurt.
And there's a second sin in there, besides the fruit, when Eve said "You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die"
First of all, God did not say "you must not touch it." So here we have Eve changing the Word of God.
And then finally the fruit. So 3 sins right out in plain sight! Thanks be to God that the promise of a savior came right after and was fulfilled in Christ.

Not in that sense, it was like a child disobeying his father, it requires a correction,
I John 3:4 sin is the transgression of the law, the law don't say thy shalt not eat of this fruit,
It carried a punishment at the present, that led to being put out of the garden of Eden, and having to make a living by the sweat of their face, and unto the woman he said I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception, in sorrow thy shalt bring forth children,
The snake was also punished.

you only need to read genesis 1-3 to know that the answer is yes.
I've never heard of a Christian suggest anything different.

Yes it ws a sin,God had said that they could eat from any other tree, including the tree of life. They chose to listen to God's enemy instead of God,thereby causing the sequence of events that we're experiencing today,at least setting the stage for it.The Bible says that Sin entered into the world because of what they did and death by sin.So what they did allowed everything that causes death to enter our environment. But can we put our problems off on them entirely,No! because we of our choosing sin also so we add to whatever they did every time we choose to sin.

Yes god said Genesis 3:3 KJV
[3] But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.
What god says dont do it is surely a sin
