How to be sensitive to Jewish friends concerning holidays?
I play D&D with a group of friends. One of them is Jewish and at least a little religious--he goes to temple for holidays at least. I am the GM and I did a fun little Winter+Yule themed adventure. This was before I knew he is Jewish. He seems happy to hear about Christmas stuff, and even asked all of us what we got for Christmas when we met up in January, then told us what he got for Hanukkah. That's when I learned he is Jewish. So it's not a big deal.
However, I still would like to be more inclusive next time. What I did this time was have an adventure that included skiing, a reindeer, mistletoe, and ice-gnomes. There was no Santa, Christmas tree, presents, or mention of any holiday or religion within the game. But the reindeer and mistletoe are very obviously Yule-themed, aren't they? I think it is ok to have holiday themes in our D&D games, but I would like to be more inclusive and not just make them all Christian holidays or European Pagan holidays. Like, it could be ok if winter has a Yule theme, as long as we do a different theme at a different part of the year?
Any suggestions?
7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality7 years agoAre the whites of the eyes harder than the colored parts of the eyes?
The whites of the eyes are called "sclera", from a Greek word for "hard". Why is that? Are the whites of the eyes harder than the colored parts of the eyes? Or... do they become that way after you die and someone is dissecting your corpse?

5 AnswersSingles & Dating8 years agoDo you think people should hold off on serious romantic relationships until they know themselves well?
My friend told me I should not get into any serious romantic relationships until I am confident that I know what I want, and I know what I am capable of or incapable of. She says it's irresponsible to get into serious relationships if I don't know what style of relationship will meet my needs, or if I don't know what kinds of promises I'm capable of keeping.
I think we learn by doing, and if I end up breaking someone's heart because I made them a promise I couldn't keep, that is something I can learn from.
What do you think?

5 AnswersEtiquette8 years agoWhy does my cat do this?
Why does my cat RUN downstairs to the basement at top speed, going, "Meow meow meow meow meow!" as loud as he can, whenever he hears someone in the basement calling up to talk to someone at the top of the stairs?
The other day I was in the basement and raised my voice to talk to someone who was up the stairs, and I said, "I bet the cat comes running when he hears me," Sure enough, he did! He came running and meowing and ran right up to me and started rubbing on my legs.
But if I talk loudly when I'm upstairs, he doesn't do anything!
Why?
2 AnswersCats8 years agoWould it be immoral for the last few fertile people on earth to refuse to have children?
What if there's a world-wide disaster, and there's only about 5000 people left alive, and only 500 of them are fertile? But all 500 of the fertile people decide they don't want to have any children?
Are they being immoral?
What should the infertile people do if the fertile ones continue to refuse?

7 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoDid Adam and Eve drop stinky loads of number 2 in the garden of Eden?
Even though it's a silly question, I'm actually honestly curious. Before Adam and Eve sinned, did they eliminate bodily waste, either liquid or solid? Did their waste have a foul smell as it does today?
If they didn't eliminate solid waste, then maybe they didn't even have anuses! Maybe they only got those after they sinned?
Or, maybe they did eliminate, but it was not yucky in anyway, smell or appearance or anything?
I mean, they were perfect and sinless at that time, so life must have been missing many of the little flaws that our lives have today.

4 AnswersReligion & Spirituality8 years agoWhich period in your child's life do you most want to remember?
If you could only remember one 10-year period of your child's life, which period would you pick? Here's a more detailed scenario in case you don't understand the question:
You live a long and happy life, and maintain a good relationship with your child (who is now a happy and successful adult) until you finally pass away peacefully from old age. Then you find yourself in the afterlife! (Yes, in this scenario there's an afterlife.) But the afterlife is a little... weird.
All your memories of your child will be removed. You will remember all the other things that happened during the years since your child was born, but not your child themself. You will have a general sort of knowledge that you did have a child and that when you died they were happy and successful and had a good relationship with you, but nothing more detailed than that.
EXCEPT...You get to choose 1 continuous period of 10 years during your child's life, and you will get to keep all your memories of your child from that period only.
So, which period will you choose to remember? When your child was age 0 - 10? Age 34 - 44? You get to pick any 10 year period. This will be your choice for the rest of eternity in the afterlife (which is actually pretty good, other than this annoying memory problem).
What's your choice?

How can we remind people of the true meaning of Easter? The bunny represents Christ's love and how it proliferates wildly, the painted eggs represent the beautiful gospel of Christ's resurrection, and the egg hunt represents our search for truth.

Imagine they're all found close to the same town. Imagine there are no hunting laws.
