Is this section of Y! Answers as divisive as claimed?

A woman who usually answers questions in the Politics section came into the section I am usually in (Religion and Spirituality, or R&S) and stated that the folk in the Politics section far-and-away believe that the R&S section has the most hateful and divisive trolling questions and answers.

I occasionally hang out in Politics, and never came to this section before. It doesn't appear that divisive to me (though it has a fair share of trolls too). But I find R&S to have the most hate-mongers.

So what section do you think is the most divisive? (Ancillary question: should the death penalty be imposed for trolling?)

Update:

Several folk in R&S stated they thought Gender Studies was the most divisive, which is why I came to check it out.

You certainly do get a lot of extremists here. And yes it's pretty divisive but surely Politics is too. I know before the US elections, that section was in complete frenzy in the run-up. In here you get women claiming they are happy to accept they are inferior to men so maybe it is a bit like Religion where believers say the world was made in 6 days and then God sat down for a nice cuppa. Probably not much to choose between here and Religion- Spirituality.

Source(s): BQ- no trolling is fine by me. (Most of the time)
  • I'm an R&S regular too and I think more intellectual debates and open-mindedness occurs in R&S than it does in this section. I tend to think that Politics is less divisive than Gender Studies. Although, GS and R&S tends to attract more people who seem to like playing power games and like having power struggles, R&S has more people in that section who are willing to see both sides of a debate or dispute. In saying this though, R&S users block and report more peoples answers and question than the GS participants. As a whole, I think that the sense and feeling of hatred between the men for women, vice-versa, in this section is much stronger than the steamy debates and one-upmanships that occur between the Atheists and Christians, vice-versa in R&S.

depends on the day and time of day here, u/s mornings can be pacy, and the brits are also very active

arvos is teen trolls pretty boring

    combative - very

most of it is sub standard baiting - to be ignored

there are some very intelligent people of both sexes who are regular contributors to the section- on topic and off topic, also a broad range of ages and lifestyles

there is one exceptionally intelligent troll in this section - she is uk based apparently - there are also quite a few copies of her - she bases much of her work on what can be practically and theoretically enclosed by a vagina and her interactions/adventures with unicorns, starfish and other baby animals....quite creative

some trolls are better than others....

i think r and s is sillier and of less interest to me, because the trolling is out of hand and the stupid level is very high - though i've seen that here also

    politics is a cesspool...

dogs is the most divisive section and baby names...

You think that's bad - try the R&P section: All the arguments about metal versus rap, classical versus rock, pop punk versus real punk, why does everyone pick on Nickelback, etc etc etc.
