87 astro Van starts, but when it is given gas, dies.?

There has been a new fuel pump put on, fuel filter, egr valve, plugs. Starts each and every time, but when you give it gas it just dies. Your ref it up and it dies, shift into gear and it dies. What could it be? Been dealing with this for weeks and can't figure it out.

Update:

For the gentleman that says tow it to a junk yard, weeellll, it is my son's van and he does car restoration, so the older the better for him. The body is great, it just broke down on the interstate while driving, and it hasn't run since.

Could be a major vacuum leak. When air leaks into an engine, it upsets the normal gas to air ratio, and this then will kill an engine, if the air is too much.

When you open the throttle you add more air, and the computer adds more gas according to how far the throttle is open. But with extra air coming in, the engine does not get enough gas, so it could die.

    ---------------------------

It could be stuck fuel injectors, IF you have injectors on that Van. It probably has two injectors and if one is stuck, it will not run right. If it calls for gas, but the injector won't open up, then of course, it will not run.

If you have carburetor, then that is something different. A low float level in the carburetor could be the problem, if you have a carb. Level in the carb is very important. Too low keeps the engine running lean, or not getting enough gas. Too high, keeps the engine running rich, or TOO much gas.

So, have someone who understands the system you have, look at it.

Get rid of that old beater and get you something else. Any van that old will be nothing but headaches. Tow it into the salvage yard and get $500 for scrap. Sometimes the salvage yard offers free towing.
