You can't go to a store and simply buy contacts. Its illegal to supply in the UK and US without a contact perscription. First you have to have a fitting and get a contact perscription. That is a one off cost and comes with trials. LEnses come in various costs depending on whether they are daily , montly or fortnightly and also the type of material and comfort can add to the cost. If you don't have astigmatism that makes it cheaper , but really this is a bit like asking how much is a car.

I don't agree with the other contributor that the eye doctor is always more expensive. I do all my bits with mine and get discount and its no more expensive than online.

The cost will vary depending on the type prescribed and where you purchase them and how many you get. Don't buy them from your eye doctor, he has a lot of over head so that's one of the most expensive places to get them.

Costco is known for having one of the lowest prices on contacts. I usually call Costco and get their price. Then I call one of the online places (Lens 123, 1800-CONTACTS, etc) because they will match prices. I give them the Costco price and they will usually drop about a dollar below and ship to my house free of charge.

The last time I purchased a year's supply, I paid about $150 for Multifocal lenses.

I pay $260 for a six month supply. mine are more expensive because they are toric lenses for my astigmatism. I'm from Australia.. they're not cheap here. you need to be fitted for the lenses so they fit right on.your eye and also if the brand is suitable for you and comfortable. hope this helps :)
