What are the differences between Softball and Baseball?

It seesm the ball is heavier and bigger in Sball,there is no pitchers mound and some minor playing rule differences....I dont get it? Its basically the same game but with slower pitches??

    Softball is basically the same as baseball but like you mentioned above the balls are different sizes an the pitchers mound isn't raised. The position are all the same there's 3 outfielders 2 middle infielders 2 corners and a pitcher and catches but some of the rules are different in softball such as you can't take a lead until the pitcher releases the ball. The base paths are shorter and the fence is closer. The pitchers also pitch underhand which makes the ball slower and the players use metal bats.

    it's pratically the same, It's just a baseball for girls! Softballs are harder than baseballs & heavier (I never understood why it's called softball then) also baseball pitches are waaaay faster!! Softball seems like more of an easy target to hit, and of course slower pitches!

    From the few softball games I've seen on TV, it appears to be 7 innings instead of 9, and I believe there are 4 outfielders instead of 3.

    It's so little kids don't get hurt.

    Baseball played at the top level is dangerous. The pitching in softball is underarm.
