Can I soften Acrylic paint?

I was making a painting and I couldn't finish due to an unforeseen event. It's really hard to recreate the same exact color. Wondering if I could take the dry paint and heat it up and make it soft again?

No you can't- not with acrylic. And you can't mix any oil with acrylic, lol. In the future you can use a retarder to slow the drying time.

Nope, Acrylics an air dry polymer base so it's a plastic once it's dried.

However for next time wrap saran wrap to form a lid over the paint reducing the air and heat on it helps but sticking it in the freezers not good either. (yep tried that). It won't keep for long but might gain your a couple of hours grace.

Alas you can but try to blend again, but if you can get a close match you can feather back in to existing areas using a series of light washes, won't be exact but unless you wish to redo thats the only 'cheat' I can think of.
