Economics at UF or UCF?

Which university has a better economics program? I have browsed through course descriptions for the University of Florida's Economics courses. They mostly sound like the social science / theory type subjects that would not be as useful as the more quantitative economics subjects. BSBA and BA majors have the same elective choices.

Then, I browsed through the University of Central Florida's BSBA Economics. I noticed that there were more quantitative economics subjects such as mathematical economics, econometrics, topics in econometrics, etc. UF does not offer any of those courses.

So which one has a better economics department? UF is apparently ranked higher according to US News and World Report, however. I am frustrated because I know that UF is pretty much the best university one can get into in Florida. However, I am not sure that state - wide prestige is really transferrable to the rest of the country. Is going to UF just for the "prestige" a bad idea?

Thanks for the help.

Your analysis leaves only one thing unsaid. Neither school is highly regarded in economics by the rest of the world. There is essentially no difference between these two mid tier schools.
