Woo, new Doctor! What do you Doctor Who fans think of #12?

I'm personally really excited to see Peter Capaldi in action. He's a pretty good actor and I think he'll make a great Doctor. A lot of people are complaining that he's not a younger, hotter guy, but he's not supposed to be some kind of sex symbol that gets with all the ladies. I've got high hopes for him and I can't wait until he's revealed!

Whaddaya you guys think?

BQ: How much TV do you watch?

BQ2: Are there any movies or shows you really like that no one you know likes?

    I'm ecstatic

I was hoping for Richard Ayoade (look him up if you don't know him) but the moment I heard his name I realised he was absolutely perfect

I think it's fantastic that we're going back to older actors, and hopefully a more serious, darker tone than the most recent series have had. I think Matt Smith is brilliant but he never had the gravitas or dignity of the previous Doctors, perhaps Amy's irritating character is to blame.

I think Capaldi might play the Doctor in a way more similar to Eccleston with moments of pure, brilliant, childish humour but a general undercurrent of respect and mystery. I really hope he plays him with a Scottish accent and doesn't drop it to Estuary like Tennant did, it would be nice to not have an English accent on our Doctor again. So long as he's British I'm happy.

I'm also relieved he's not a woman, to be honest. I think it would be far too confusing to cast a woman as the Doctor and it would certainly raise questions about the efficiency of Time Lords as species. It's been mentioned that everyone is bisexual after the 51st century, and presumably this applies to Time Lords as well but it would be difficult to reproduce in monogamous relationships if they were constantly switching sexes. Perhaps I look into it too much. But I wouldn't care for a female Doctor.

And, this is coming from a young woman I think Capaldi is very attractive but not in the childish, obvious way that Tennant was. Capaldi is more dignified and impressive looking. He could definitely become a sex symbol in a way that Matt Smith never did

BQ: Not much, I watch old series on DVD more than I watch telly, though I did follow The Returned recently.

BQ2: I think more people should see Not the Nine OClock News and more people outside of Britain should see Black Books, Blackadder, IT Crowd, Young Ones, Life on Mars and Fresh Meat

Movies wise I love In Bruges. Barely anyone has heard of it but it is a really wonderful movie and there's a genius undercurrent running through it with a brilliant philisophical theory fitted by a fan

I'm so excited now, that's amazing! I actually watched him a lot before I knew he was even in Doctor Who (fourth season, bit part as a Roman guy), and now he's going to be Twelve!

I think it's great we're making a return to good character actors and good old-fashioned great adventure stories as well. People were complaining about the Doctor turning into a sex symbol and having spur of the moment romances taking precedents in the plots over sci-fi and story. While I don't know for sure if that's true, that'd be a little too out there for me if it was. He's the Doctor, not Captain Kirk. Anyways, whatever complaints people have now, I'm sure Capaldi will set right.

BQ: Not as much as I used to, though I'm growing fond of the On Demand Movie & TV feature we have on our new service.

BQ2: A lot of cop show mysteries, CSI & Castle & Law and Order and all that. It's a thing where I know they're cliche and I could make fun of them to no end - but at the same time, I'm still watching them, aren't I? There must be something there.

I'm actually glad he is a bit older. In the classic series, some of the regenerations were a lot older than Peter. I knew some girls who just watched for David and Matt, so choosing an actor that will not appeal to those fans might not have been the greatest idea. But I am excited. Too bad for shippers of Clara and the doctor, though. I also heard he's a good actor, which is the best thing I've heard so far. Plus he was on a Doctor Who episode before.

BQ: Recently I've been waiting for Doctor Who, Sherlock, and Spn to come back on, so I've just been watching the classic episodes.

BQ2: I know tons of people on the internet who watch spn, but no one in real life >_<

My reaction to the new of the 12th doctor is positive. I just thought to myself. Peter Capaldi. Isn't he the guy that killed his children, his wife and then himself in Torchwood. He'll be perfect for the Doctor. I'm actually really glad they picked a older actor and i'm interested to see we they go with him. But remember we also have to deal with the Lost Doctor. (John Hurt) I wonder how he is going play a part in the show. I'm sad to see Matt go, But i'm excited to see the new doctor. I was kinda hoping for a female doctor. Basically because i could have a major crush on her. But i'll live.

BQ: Not much TV. I need progression or a Story Arc in the show to get interested, Otherwise I get bored after a few episodes, because it doesn't feel like it doesn't matter or going anywhere. every episode is the same.

BQ2: Freaks and Geeks is the greatest Teen Drama ever made and one of the best TV shows ever made. Why was it canceled after one season.

I'm not sure how I feel yet. On one hand I'm excited because it's just like classic Who, and he seems like a really good actor (I've only seen him in that one Who episode). On the other hand I'm kinda bummed because there won't be any more Whouffle (Clara x Doctor), which was probably my favorite pairing.

I'm not gonna make any judgements until I see him in action. I'll probably end up loving him, I mean, I didn't really like Matt when he started and now I love him :)

BQ: Not a lot. I only watch Doctor Who and Graceland on my TV, so like an hour a week. I tend to watch more shows online because they already started and I missed a season or two, so adding my hour for Graceland/Doctor Who, It's probably 5 hours a week.

BQ: Graceland! I love it so much but none of my friends watch it and my family doesn't like it.

I'm not a fan, I'm mostly answering for the BQs. They have the old and new versions on Netflix though, so I plan to watch them when I have the time since a lot of people seem to love the show.

BQ: Not much. I'm more of a reader/movie watcher.

BQ2: Sure. I like to watch cult classics usually and not many people are aware of those (Aside from people I know on the internet). I love The Perks of Being a Wallflower movie though, and I've met people who also love it.

I just started watching Doctor Who.. if anything he seems similar the all the other actors..I was hoping for something a bit different from all the other ones, but I guess he'll do.

BQ: I mostly watch Netflix...and just when I'm feeling like it.

    BQ2: Pretty Little Liars.

I AM HAPPY WITH CAPALDI AS THE NEW DOCTOR. HE BRINGS HIS OWN STYLE OF JUSTICE TO THE DOCTOR. I STARTED WATCHING LAST SATURDAY AND I WAS TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY BY CAPALDI'S PORTRAYAL OF THE DOCTOR. CAPALDI ALSO HIMSELF PERSONALLY REQUESTED THAT HIS DOCTOR NOT BE FLIRTY. I AM ANXOUS TO SEE HOW HE DOES. BUT HE HAS MY SEAL OF APPROVAL ALREADY. FANTASTIC!
