had the top of my ear pieced 2 days ago, i clean it twice a day but i was wondering how long it would hurt for?
also how do you know when to change it , i got told 4-12 weeks so i'm not sure

What do you clean it with?
If you are following these steps everything is fine and you are a slow healer, if you aren't following these steps, do it now :)
- buy some sea salt
- put a pinch in a mug
- boil the kettle, pour onto salt
- leave to cool
- use a cotton bud to clean your entire piercing 1-2 times a day, no more.
- Never use antiseptic wipes or anything like that - only salt + boiled water.
Assuming you are cleaning your ear correctly, I would say don't change it for at least 2 months :)

Is it just the cartilage? If so, cartilage I found took the shortest time and hurt the least. Especially because my ears have a hard time healing and mine took about 14 weeks to heal, for a normal person like you I'd say 8-10. However it varies. I wouldn't recommend changing it until about week 20 or it may hurt and bleed, and mess up the healing process.
