Jeep Cherokee throttle position sensor?
Hello, is it hard too chng a tps/crankshaft sensor on a '99 Cherokee 4.0? I was told that it had to be taken to a shop for that type of work for "adjustment". The vehicle gives signs as if the fuel pump is going out, thnx

If the vehicle gives signs of the fuel pump failing why would you concern yourself with the crank sensor?
Start where you suspect the problem is. Get a fuel pressure tester and see if the fuel pressure is normal at 49.2psi +- 5psi. If it isn't replace the pump assembly.
If that's ok there is a test for the crank sensor in the factory service manual which you can view online at http://www.jeep4x4center.com/knowledge-base/index....
look for the fuel section.
The manual sensor is two bolts. The auto has one bolt and should have a paper spacer on the end to set the position. Again, it's in the FSM. No special adjustment required. It can be difficult to get to on the upper side of the bell housing but you should be able to do it yourself if it's needed.

you may examine the TPS with an straightforward ohm meter. It better than in all chance has developed intermittent open circuits alongside the resister strip. do not unplug it - if the motorcar runs sensible nicely, it must be functioning quite. purely get it replaced once you get the prospect or have the previous commonly used time.
