Which type of flat television has the greatest range of brightness?

I want a TV that I can turn way down to minimal Brightness, and some technologies are limited to a small range, usually brighter than I would prefer. All of them get as Bright as I need. I am looking at 40"-class & above.

    LED and OLED are good brightness wise... but OLED is incredibly expensive.
