slm alykm.smoking is haram, but why is incense burned inside a masjid with poor ventilation?
i used to smoke, but now, when i smell or inhaled smoke, i feel pain in my chest not unless if i can leave the place, i have to take a cigarette and inhale it to remove the pain. But in the masjid today, I went outside and just listened to the khutbah outside. And everytime someone arrives, they greet me which should not be when inside. How do I solve this predicament as I am not one who would question or give suggestion to the imam who lights the incense. There was a time during a taraweh where i left it unfinished because my chest and head is aching a lot smelling the incense.
@madmax
eid mubarak
but i've searched there are harmful effects to the health here in google just now
in sha allah, dua for better alternatives.
alaykum salam wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh
@michael cullis....alhamdulillah for the new word I learned, nocebo, in contrast to placebo that I googled. I don't think it was psychological. Matter of fact, at first, I love the scent, but prolonged, the pain intensifies in the chest, and also my sinus . I don't know if my nature of work has something to do with it. I work as a printing machine operator that use different kinds of alcohol as solvents for the ink.

i went to a mosque once and learned slm alykm but had no idea thats how it was spelled. i would say go to a doctor to check out your lungs. it would be awful to have to avoid going there because of lung damage. you may need an inhaler and to stop smoking for your health but only your doctor can tell you whats really going on

Assalam Alaikum ..
Incense has no tobacco and it is sober unlike Cigarette which has intoxicated substances.
And thats why cigarettes are harm.
Better you keep distance from incense and offer your prayer in masjid
Or make dua for good facility to improve in Masjid
or If you have enough wealth alhamduillah then pay to masjid for renovation.
Eid Mubaark
@36 , yes inhaling incense closely is not good anyway. but it is not prohibited in ISLAM.
Valaikum assalaam.
Remember in dua
